There is a difference between moderate Republicans and liberal ones. Chaffee is a liberal, a RINO's RINO.

At least Kean would have voted for Alito...
To: pissant
Then you shouldn't be surprised when Republicans lose the Senate because people like Chaffee and Specter aren't around to vote for a Republican majority leader.

Before or after calling for Hastert and Rummy to resign?

Agreed.
Note how they try to misrepresent him as moderate...

Or let's rephrase that. The GOP shouldn't be suprised that conservatives do not support the spectres and keans and chaffees of the world. Period, end of story.

What happens if Chaffee pulls a Jeffords? Do you really think that if it were left to him, he'd want the Republican leadership to run the show? I do think it matters who controls the Senate. However, I believe that if Chaffee is the 50th Republican, it won't be long before there are only 49.

Ann Coulter once said that Chaffee was too stupid to realise he's actually a Democrat.
Quite. I'll shed no tears if he goes down.

IF he goes down in flames, I won't shed a tear. And take Kean Jr. with ya.I'll shed a tear if we lose control of the Senate, even though Chafee is an endangered species in today's political environment.
To: Anita1
Good riddens - time to get rid of the tent - you gotta know what you stand for. RINOs stand for nothing and essentially oppose all things moral and decent. Better to have a lib than a lib who claims to be republican. Why and how Bush/Rove supported a liberal RINO over a social conservative says alot about the party and the hypocracy of the modern GOP.

I won't. I think they will hang on to the Senate, but if they lose it, they'll richly deserve it.

To: cogitator
The evidence is rather clear that if we are down to just 50 so votes...Chaffee would likely defect anyways.
Who do you think has been giving John Bolton so much grief in the Senate?

Dane knows better than that. I'm probably one of the biggest Bush fans on here.
Two things I can't stand and will never tolerate. A liberal republican and a ball-less one. And when a candidate is both, he'll NEVER get my support.

Let Chaffee go down into ignominious defeat from another Rhode Island Socialist. No tears here. Who cares? Rhode Island is a lost cause to our Republic. Nathanael Greene would be turning his cannon on his own his State for what it has turned into today. I feel sorry for the few decent people left there who must suffer under the crooks and socialists who inhabit that nutty place.
Chaffee is nothing but trouble on the Judiciary Committee. Put a Republican on the committee who will vote for Constitution-minded judges.
Dump the Punk!

Chafee is about the best one can hope for in an awful, just awful state. Either way, I have trouble caring about him.
To: itsahoot; Dane
Dane strikes me as a committed GOPer. But I'm not sure if he's a he or she.
