Wellstone doesn't fit the agenda for today. If they shoved his face into the news, they might get a little backlash. They'll drag out his corpse when some item on the agenda they're pushing is lacking emotional power. Of course, not during an election cycle (heh, heh, heh).

Seriously, I wouldn't wish his death on any opponent, but I'll sure take it if it happens. I am glad he's out of the office no matter how he went.

Makers of very small adult clothing probably do.

I pieced this together from an old Rush transcript.....

KAHN: A week from today, Paul Wellstone's name will not and cannot be on the ballot, but there will be a choice nonetheless, either to embrace and continue his legacy in the United States Senate, to keep his legacy alive; either to keep his legacy alive, or bring it forever to an end. (Crowd: No!) Tonight we are filled to overflowing with overwhelming grief and sorrow. If Paul Wellstone's legacy in the Senate comes to an end within just days after this unspeakable tragedy, then our spirits will be crushed and we will drown in a river of tears. We are begging you. Do not let this happen. (Applause.) We are begging you to help us win this Senate election for Paul Wellstone! (Applause.) We can be the answer to his prayers if you help us win this election for Paul Wellstone.

KAHN: He needs you now. I am begging you, please. Let the people of this state hear your voice on his behalf to keep his legacy alive and help us win this election for Paul Wellstone! I can still hear that strong, clear voice calling to me that it is now our time to stand up for the people he fought for, that we need to stand up for our children. We must stand up for our seniors. We have to stand up. We are going to stand up together and then we're going to organize! We're going to organize! We're going to organize! We're going to organize! We're going to organize! We're going to organize!

It's a day to commit ourselves to whining, snivelling liberalism.

Ironic, isn't it? The liberals are a disgusting crowd. If this guy ran for the White House under a (D) moniker, they'd vote for him.

Like Minnesota, where Keith Ellison will be elected to the house of representatives.

Ditto. I liked Wellstone because he was a hardcore lib who actually believed big government was the cure-all for all of America's problems and didn't try to hide that belief. He was a proud liberal unlike John Kerry and other big name libs who didn't have the guts to admit it. Like all true blue libs Wellstone had no faith in the average american's ability to solve his or her own problems. At least he was up front about it.

He sincerely wanted to help the average American. What he and all libs didn't and still don't understand is that the average american doesn't need their "help". He never understood that the morass of mostly bad Dem/liberal generated legislation held Americans down and didn't propel them to the promised land. It stuck them in a quagmire which many still can't get out of.

What did they do, blame it on Bush?

Yeah, the best theory I've heard was the Rovian Invisible Laser.

I think Wellstone's memorial may have been one of the first times that the left couldn't contain itself and showed its true self to the nation. It was ghoulish. Not even the son was in mourning, but used his father as a campaign platform for the next available politician, Mondale.

A "Do it for Paul!" cheer could have been tolerated, and possibly understood, but the whole thing was a political rally complete with booing of Republicans who attended out of respect for the man. It showed the true face of a political ideology that does not value the individual, but merely the political collective.
