You have just stated what I had just replied to on a different thread.

So many talk around the subject. But the government does not, to my knowledge, restrict any embryonic stem cell research.

Perhaps some of the billionaires could use some of their money and start such a research foundation. Maybe some of the money that has been raised by celebs for aides can be duplicated and applied to Parkinson's.

That is something that liberals would not find sufficient because liberals, for the most part, require government approval (read: funding) of their causes to feel validation. It's the same reason why private charities and companies donating billions to NOLA is almost completely ignored while almost all of the focus is on throwing more tax money at the problem. The same reason why private charities and shelters for the poor/homeless are marginalized while government sponsored charities are constantly being given more taxpayer money. It's as if liberals have it ingrained in their heads that anything useful and good can only come from the government, and that anything that comes from private industry is of little consequence. This is just the latest chapter in their book.
