I've never understood the attraction of monarchy. Let a family, and all its descendents rule over you and worship them with a reverence that should be reserved for God alone. The monarchy is an evil institution.

I follow this with some interest, since Prince Charles and I are the same age, and my mother was the same age as the Queen. My mother was always interested in the goings on of the British royalty, and I retain an interest, although I must admit it is increasingly like watching a train wreck.

I haven't seen the movie "The Queen" but I am beginning to wonder if this isn't a PR effort to get the Queen to abdicate and let Charles take the throne. I wouldln't put it past the Charles faction.

I imagine WIlliam will be an unconventional king as well, having been brought up by his mother through his formative years.

It's a shame Harry can't be king. I kind of root for him, and Prince Hal remains a favorite historical figure of mine.
