Residents speak out for and against border fence
KVOA Tucson Channel 4 News ^ | Lupita Murillo

Right now a fence divides this border town and its dividing the people who live here.

Those who oppose the President's idea say it won't solve the immigration problem.

As it stands now, high-tech cameras and sensors are already along the border to help secure it.

There's even surveillance from above.

Santa Cruz County Supervisor Manny Ruiz, "No matter if they build the wall they'll come under it...go through it...or go over it so to me it's just a waste of taxpayer's money."

Resident Bill Stout says, "I find it offensive in that we don't have wall between the U.S. and Canada but yet we're going to put one between Mexico and the U.S. I don't feel that's right."

The City Manager of Nogales Sonora agrees. Cuauhtemoc Galindo says, "It's a back step in the social politals of both countries."

The wall is a hot button issue and even here south of the border we were able to find people on the flipside.

Barbara Ware says, "I think it's a great idea because I am from Minnesota. Canadians aren't busting our doors but I think it's a wonderful idea. I think it keeps people safer."

Gene Sjostrand says, "It's a start at least it will get something down there that will address the crossings."

Joe Olles says, "The biggest part of it to stopping vehicles that cross because odds have it there are the people bringing drugs across."

27 other nations join Mexico slamming the U.S. for building the fence.

Mexico has also said it will challenge the fence plans at the United Nations.

Yeah, but then again, we don't have 20 million illegal canadians in the U.S. either...
Actually, if we did, there would only be 12 million left in canada..

According to the DemocRATS, everyone in the "whole world" (with the exception of illegal aliens) hates America. If that is true, why are so many of them DYING while trying to come here?

I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts that the majority of those other 27 nations are Central and South American countries who are also more than happy to let their excess poor citizens pour illegally over our borders via Mexico.

LOL, you were right!

Self rant alert.

When those countries are in the UN, hand them a bill and tell them THEY WILL receive all their illegals back... (especially the crimals purposely sent here... and it's not for purse snatching either).

And if our government doesn't get their heads out of their butts... forget about it. Fix the system and don't let anyone in until you do.

These jerks are running drugs across our borders... death, in turn gangs, in turn murders, addiction and more death.
You don't want to know the percent of illegals in jails... yep, paid for by John and Jane Q. Taxpayer. Housing loans, in-state tuition when people are struggling to work two jobs to get their kids (who are citizens), into college. Don't get me started on the schools and NEA. They even give the durn citizenship test in Spanish... what is that saying?... while our kids are not even taught the history of their country here, but feelings, sex ed and every culture but their own... oh, and Islam/understanding.

I don't know about anyone here... but if I know someone broke into my neighbor's house and killed them (9/11), I would think they wouldn't give the next group the keys to my house... since we do so damn much for them. It would seem to be in their best interest to guard their borders... as they do to the south... To make sure NO ONE comes in. It's a fact that a lot of those OTMs (other than mexicans), are islamists. Arizona Republic wrote three years ago about actual camps in AZ... no lie. Who the hell cares what other countries say... let them take care of them.

F them... as a matter of fact, start deportations, send Mex a bill and cut of the funding our government gives them. There are people all over the world that want to come here and wait forever (including people who are actually being persecuted btw), spending all kinds of money; There are military personnel that wait for their spouses and family members; those who adopt from other countries... who are getting jerked because the system hasn't even processed the illegals amnesty from the 80s!... much less millions more.

These clowns come here (thank you traitorous businesses, you also can go set up in Mexico, since you like to treat folks like slaves), illegally, close our hospitals, full our prisons, commit gang and all kinds of violence... then have the nerve to march in our streets with a Mexican flag... while they broke the law to get here? We have troopers in jail and people who have lost their homes in lawsuits brought by illegals (not even citizens), in our courts? This is ridiculous. No, not everyone fits the mold, but I could give a flying Wallenda... I came legally, they didn't.

Next, they'll want to use chips... no tinfoil either.

Mexico has also said it will challenge the fence plans at the United Nations.

The UN has ZERO say in what the United States does.

"Build the blasted thing!"

I'll be interested to see who gets the contracts to build it. Also if they will be bid or no bid. After what happened with Katrina this bears watching.

This is another one of those jobs where knowledge of the English language should be a requirement. That would be a step in the right direction. ;^)

Mexico is one of the MOST corrupt countries in the world. I am outraged that there is not a BIG wall with guards every 20 feet between it and MY country!

You're not alone, the majority of the U.S. Taxpayers are for walls along our borders.
