The aim of this butchery is to make sexual pleasure impossible for the female, ever. Urination is comromised. It even sex (and childbirth) dangerous because of the poor healing, scarring, and residual infections. Exactly. For most practicing Muslims (not including the "moderate" Muslims) the relationship between male and female is one of dominance and submission. Sex is not a mutual act of commitment and pleasure, its a domination of the male over the female. I read an article in the Readers Digest many years ago about a black lady from Somalia (she's a supermodel now-can't remember her name) who survived circumcision. Very compelling story.

Another woman, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Dutch MP, had the procedure performed on her. She has spoken out quite fiercely against the practice (and other human rights violations against women in Islamic countries).
