The more I think about this story, I have two little girls 3 and 18 months, the more it smells to high heaven.
There is no way the mother didn't know. Was the two year old potty trained, so completely the mother never assited? Not even diapers at night? Did the little girl never bathe? Was she not in pain afterwords, was the mother not the least bit curious? Was there no blood, no bandages?
What mother misses this????????
That poor child deserves so much better.
Mom is just trying to cover herself by claiming she did not know for a year. In truth, she may not have been in agreement but Muslim wives do not argue or they get beaten. Mom may have gone through this cruel practice herself.
