Yankee haters are so predictable they're comical.
GO CRAZY, FOLKS. GO CRAZY.
So sad Jack buck couldn't be there.
Joe does his dad proud.
congratulations to St. Louis...they played the best in the championships....
My Yankees ....although playing really well this season did not get there......
that is what happens when the Yankees are now the Damned Yankees due to the beast (the piaps) stating that she is a big fan!!!
she puts a course on everything... and everything she touches dies or turns to shi-ite.....
and this is what the lib/dems want as the next president!!!!
Yahoo!
oh? and detroit didnt riot last night, i know 1000's of cards fans and the rest of the U.S was hoping we would, but we didnt.
well so heres the standings thus far :
Lions 1-6
Tigers Blew it.
Redwings, No Goalie's this year,
Pistons, Basketball sucks anyway.
Go Philadelphia Flyers.
Damn you Cardinals. I remember the famous Suds Series of 1982, when the Brewers had a 3-1 lead and collapsed.
Ah, yes! I'm too young to remember it, but my Milwaukee pals always remind me how the Cards used that Astroturf by bouncing the ball so high that they got to first before the infielder had a chance to play it. Oh well, that's home field advantage.
George Will's riddle from a couple of weeks ago no longer works. He asked what the Cubs and Cardinals have in common, and the answer was that neither had won a World Series in their new stadium. The Cubs, of course, play in the oldest stadium in the NL.
In other baseball news, Joe Niekro, who pitched for the Astros and had 221 career victories, just died at the age of 61. He was the father of Lance Niekro and the brother of Phil Niekro. He and his brother have the largest combined total of victories for any two brothers in major league history.
I've followed the Cardinals since the late 1940's when Stan Musial and Enos "Country" Slaughter were in their glory. St. Louis has always been a class act. I made many a trip to the original Busch Stadium (Sportsmen's Park) on the "Redbird Express." I didn't see the need for a new stadium but this new one is a doozy. Really beautiful. The sweetest win was in 1964 but I wasn't here to see it being overseas in the military. 1982 was the second best and I saw the parade in St. Louis. But this one was still a very good one. On the subject of baseball, St. Louis has much to be proud. And I'm in Texas now but I still follow them.
I'm sure this Championship has been watered down for him by the fact that he made you angry.
"The team of Pepper Martin, Joe Medwick, Frankie Frisch, Leo Durocher and the Dean boys played a spikes-flying, hair-on-verve. A country still gripped by a cataclysmic depression embraced this team of charming rogues. When the Cardinals won the World Series in seven tumultuous games against Detroit, they became icons. That team and its style set the tone for a franchise that continues today."
They were before my time, but I can't tell you how many times my late father told me about the "Gashouse Gang". He was a boy of 9 in 1934, and the memory of that team burned a memory that fed a lifetime of baseball enthusiasm.
By 1982, Dad was a season ticket holder, and we went to every post season game. As I watched them set up the stage last night last night, I remembered standing there, 24 years ago, with my dad, when Jack Buck was the MC.
I thought this article comparing this current Cardinal team to the Gas House gang was very interesting.
I wish he, Jack Buck, and Harry Carey could have lived long enough to relish this victory in our new ballpark. Last night was a spectacle of a lifetime, and despite what the nay-sayers think if you're part of the CARDINAL'S NATION you understand just how special this victory really is!
I agree with that. I went to a game there last month, and it was a very nice experience.
LOL..I got after a young Cubs fan this year for yelling an obsenity. His friend was asking about the play. He said he didn't know, he was too busy getting lectured to.
LOL
Yeah, but in HD, the pine tar on Rogers' hand was unmistakable. Great pitcher, but he was cheating in the first inning. ;)
What were his comments that made you mad?
People here were upset that he didn't say anything about it.
Strange. Accusing him of not addressing it b/c of his friendship with Leyland.
I had the pleasure of going to the next to last cub game at wrigley this year.
While the place is beyond cool the fans are not as good as in St. Louis.
I lived in L.A. for many years as a kid and we had season tickets to the Dodgers. Their come late leave early fans couldn't compare.
