On Sunday at 2 a.m., Daylight Saving Time ends. We move the clock back one hour to return to Standard Time, giving us a 60-minute bonus.
Thanks to passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Daylight Saving Time will begin one month earlier in 2007 and will continue for an extra week. It's part of a phased move designed to conserve electricity and save an estimated 300,000 barrels of oil a year.

Just a reminder -- and enjoy the extra hour.
The article also gives the history of daylight saving time, gives the dates for the next few years, as we will have an extra month of daylight saving time, and also gives a few interesting tidbits.

Yeah, it may be a good idea to save oil, but I HATE getting up at 2:00 AM just to set my clocks back an hour. Never can get back to sleep.

As a retiree I simply ignore the clock. I may change one or two of them eventually, but maybe I won't.

Who cares about 300,000 barrels of oil?
300,000 x $60 = $18,000,000
$18 million saved across 300 million people? This makes everyone's schedules shift and causes VCRs to now be manually reset for that? That amount of savings was probably within the margin of error of the any research done on it.
This reasoning is stupid.

I wish they would just keep daylight savings time year round.

If I fall back, will there be anyone there to catch me? I'm so afraid. What to do!

I wish we would stay at standard time year around. Daylight hours increase during the spring and summer on their own. The change in the spring kills me! I'm usually late for work every day that week and grouchy as hell lol.

Fall back - spring ahead. Turn your clock/watch back 1 hour at 2:00 a.m Sunday. Next year, Daylight Savings Time will begin the last Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November.

I live in Arizona. We never change our time. We like to keep things simple.
You folks all have fun changing your clocks back and forth. :)

You mischievous little rascal, you, trying to confuse people! ;)
The CORRECT reminder is: SPRING FORWARD, FALL BACK.

THis is the plan for next year:
"In 2007, Daylight Saving Time begins on March 11 and ends Nov. 4" (from the article)

I don't believe there is any energy saving with the changing of the clocks.

If you moved to Hawaii, you could move the clocks back at 8pm instead.

I thought you were joking, to confuse others, not that you yourself got it backwards.
It IS "spring forward, fall back".
You can even read the article to confirm.

No but it means its getting dark earlier in the winter - which is just around the corner. The days are getting shorter.

"Ben Franklin writes a paper extolling the virtues of extending daylight in order to save candles."
I don't think saving candles was exactly his thing.
Ben was into banging old ladies.
...and talking about it.
