Ugh, this article makes me sick. It would be so great if time money and resources were given to this race. I detest Benny. Also its not like Republicans have not got good numbers before in this district.

I will vote for her even though I know it's a lost
cause. I never miss a chance to vote against BT.
I have voted in several dim primaries just for that
purpose.
Honestly, I can understand why the Republican don't
spend a lot of money on her.
Bennie Thompson is there to stay as long as he
wants the job.
The only chance we ever had to get him out the
Republicans spent all their money to make sure
Trent Lott #2, Golden Boy Chip Pickering was elected.

Regardless, they should have put more money in this race. There are I don't think any major State wide races that will drive Dem turnout. I think the biggest race statewide is Lott which I am pretty sure is a shoein

Oh, my -- and I'm the momma of some former college students, so I can sympathize. Ramen noodles, the staple of college life.

Off topic, but about 18 months ago, my son was at the Air Force OCS, and we couldn't see him for 6 weeks, but he could get packages, etc. I made a whole batch of fresh yeast rolls and strawberry jam, and packed it all still warm and shipped it UPS overnight. UPS told me he would get it the next day, but IIRC it took four days, so I know they weren't fresh. He said they still scarfed them down LOL.

SS...DD...just ask Clinton Lesuere. Bennie's beatable, but the RNC doesn't believe it.

Yep if the Republicans were behind Clinton Lesuere
like they were Chippy he could have won.

Maybe. But that means that it's not a good way to spend money. It's a lot of money for just one house race.

If she dies in office after the election, won't Mitch name her replacement......Dickerson is a winner any way you look at it.

I see your point

My view on this race is this. First Benny Thompson is a idiot and he having him head of Homeland security should scare all of us. Whats ironic is he got off the Agriculutral committee(his whole district is farming) and got on the House Homeland Security. What terrorist would attack in the MIssissippi delta is beyond me. Perhaps the Casinos. However to his credit he seemed to get the funding for the most beautiful Bridge on the Mississippi River that is being built between the MEtroplis of Greenville and important city of Eudora/Lake Villiage Ark lol

That being said if there is a area that needs new ideas it this one. The poverty is extreme. They had a Republican a couple of years that ran twice. He got in to the respectible 40 percent range. In this race if the Republican was strong I got to believe the Epsy clan wouldn't do too much to help him. It could be in reach.

In the end we have got to invest money in helping black Republicans in areas like this. THere is never a good year too do it because "money is always tight". However we got to start somewhere.

The only possible HLS threat I can think of
in the 2 district is the Nuclear Power Plant and Port Gibson.

Well, the article says Swannie is getting money (mostly to help downticket candidates now) and so is Steele and others, I'm sure.

"Bennie is going to be chairman of Homeland security if the Dems take the house."

If that happens Al-Qaeda terrorists everywhere will be hi-5ing each other.

Cain said a lack of party funding for a black GOP candidate creates the appearance that the GOP is not backing its message of inclusiveness with financial support.

"I'm sure it sends that perception, but people have to look beyond that perception," Cain said.

Should be Politics 101

Never... ever give a measured response to a leading question.

I'm sure the question was along the lines of "Do you feel that limited support of certain black Republican candidates might create a perception that the GOP is not serious about inclusion."

By responding with anything but a total rejection of the question, the bogus reporter's words become your own.

The MSM is getting desperate

I agree. We still have time. We should show the media just how ineffective they are by gaining seats in the House and Senate!

House members are never appointed, they can only be elected. If Carson dies in office, Daniels can only call for a special election.

Benny thompson is out for Benny Thompson. I knew a guy who worked with the MS Economic Development commission. He said the other Reps. and Senators would help you to one degree or another, except for Benny. He always wanted an angle to help himself out with.

He doesn't even want to help out the Demos. He made sure his district was gerrymandered to be at least 60% black, which helps him but guarantees the other seats will be held by Conservatives (Two GOP and bluedog Gene Taylor).

Benny has the office for life.

Boo-hoo. The party supports people it thinks can win. There is certainly no prejudice against black candidates. If anything, there's a bias toward them.

This is too bad.
There have been good candidates to run against Bennie.

I wish they had more support.

If he's ever the head of the House Homeland Security committee,
I'm gonna hide under my bed.
