Vietnam Airlines plans to double its fleet to 86 planes by 2015 to meet increasing passenger demand, state media reported Saturday.

The plan has been submitted to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for approval, the Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper quoted Vietnam Airlines General Director Nguyen Xuan Hien as saying.

The national carrier has ordered 10 Airbus A321 planes, with the first delivery expected in January.

It has also agreed to purchase four Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with the first delivery scheduled in 2010.

Under the plan, the airline will purchase an additional 19 aircraft beginning in 2012 and will lease 10 others, Hien said.

I want to get back there, I only did the South, Nha Trang, Dalat and Saigon with side trips to the tunnels and on the Mekong delta. I want to go to Hanoi, Halong Bay and Hue.

I'm hoping that from this summit they agree on easier travel without having to get a visa, or at least a visa on arrival.

I knew it was a beautiful country even back then, though I was scared sh__less most of the time.

Though I think Vietnam in our camp will eventually be great.

Unless we lose the War On Terror. Then nothing will matter anymore anyway.

Hey you got to look at it this way. Japan was once one of our worst enemys and now they are our best friend next to the Brits, Australians and a few others.

If Vietnam is willing to embrace Capitalism and welcome us with open arms, I'm for it.

BTW, did you all know John Kerry served in Vietnam?

I ran into lots of vets when I was there, and brought back pics for a lot more.

Every vet was treated like a king over there.

Its a wonderful place, I hope to spend lots more time over there.

All I remember after seeing one of their 777's in person was how I thought it was about the most beautiful livery I've ever seen.
