The old scam is that they are given paper facsimile ballots that are marked with the candidates and propositions they are to vote for. They bring these into the booth with them as a guide. Either that or someone else votes in their place using their voter registration card or just their name.

No kidding. Voting is one thing that should not be multilingualized. I went to the registrar of voters to turn in my absentee voting application the other day, and they have signs in about a dozen languages. I'm thinking, how can you vote when you can't understand the language that the issues are being debated in? American political debate is in English, as are our laws. It can be hard enough for a native-born English speaker to make sense of sometimes. How much can you really understand about American politics and government before learning English? I can only imagine what smears and lies go unanswered in other languages when the candidates don't even know they're being made. These non-English-literate voters are probably voting for and against fictional characters.

Now you have to learn English to become a naturalized citizen, and you have to be a citizen to vote, or if you are not a naturalized citizen, that means you were born here, and just how many people born in America don't know English by the time they are of voting age? I can imagine exceptional scenarios, and someone would tell me about immigrant ghettos, but really how many? Something doesn't fit about that.
