There is no doubt that the U.S. radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's direct style and his own past medication issues make him an inviting target

No .. Rush was open for a target because he is a conservative

If Rush was a Democrat saying this on NPR or Air America .. many in the media wouldn't have said a thing

I'll be sure to tune in tonight to CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS to hear the story about this neurologist.

Oh wait, I forgot -- this story will never appear on any of those networks......

...inaccurate in accusing Michael J. Fox of "acting"...

Even Rush's defenders get what he says wrong.

Rush said Fox was either acting OR he deliberately went off his medication. That "or" is important. Without the "or" Rush is basically wrong, but with the "or" Rush is basically right. The only technicality that keeps Rush from being 100% right is that (and this is according to Fox) Fox overmedicated himself rather than undermedicated as Rush said.

This is not only unfair, but absurd. Everyone, including Republicans, supports the many new treatments emerging for Parkinson's patients that promise far more immediate application than do stem cells. Republicans also support stem cell research when it comes from ethically sound sources, such as adult tissues and umbilical cord blood. Ironically, these forms of stem cells have had greater success to date than the embryonic-source stem cells lionized in the Michael J. Fox TV ad.

The Democrat position on stem cell research makes sense only if it is a calculated effort designed to hurt Republican candidates who are beholden to pro-Life groups. The only function of this position is to advance the pro-Abortion agenda.

All the rest of it, from Christopher Reeves to Parkinson's to Alzheimer's to Michael J. Fox, is cynical political manipulation.

It comes down to this... Michael J Fox is telling the American voter:

You can only prove you love me
if you
pay to obliterate some people who are much smaller than I am

"Trust, but verify"

From Googling, it appears the Ranalli has the goods when it comes to
having the medical degree and neurological expertise, along with
being a lecturer at the U. of Toronto.
Sounds like he's qualified to be an expert witness on neurological problems.

If his comment comes across Rush's desk, he may just let it pass.
It sounds like Ranalli also has had the politically-incorrect cojones
to point out that fetuses manifest many of the traits of experiencing pain
that "quickened" humans do. Even if Ranalli's comment back up Rush's contentions,
Rush probably doesn't want to cite a controversial fellow like this,
no matter how expert he is in neurology.

Outstanding post. Thank you Dr. Paul Ranalli.

My mom has had Parkinson for 17 years and has NEVER been a VICTIM of ANY politician's vote.

I cannot thank the pharmaceutical, medical, healthcare, scientific community enough for their outstanding work in this field.

Michael Fox has issues far greater than Parkinson.

---Lest this all sound too cynical, consider that Mr. Fox admitted in his 2002 autobiography to going off his medication to appear more disabled before a 1999 Senate subcommittee appearance.---

I have stayed out of the whole MJF thing because I don't give a damn what celebrities think or say or do in the first place. and because this looked like the 2006 variation of what the dems tried to do in 2004 with chris reeve and stem cells, and that fell flat. so it all seemed relatively harmless.

but this definitely makes my blood boil.

I hope the good people of Missouri know they have been duped.

Rush's best point yesterday was the fact that the private sector isn't interested in it at all.
