Ahmadinejad warns of firm response in case of U.N. nuclear sanctions.

  • International Herald Tribune reported that Ahmadinejad warned on Monday that his country would oppose an "appropriate and firm response" to any U.N. sanction over its nuclear program.


Russia calls for gas alliance with Iran.

  • reported that a senior Russian parliamentarian has called for a gas alliance to unite former Soviet republics and Iran to help Russia stand up to the European Union's "cartel" of gas consumers.
  • Reuters reported that Iran's oil minister has said any crude oil price of less than $60 per barrel is not acceptable because of the cost of production.

  • Reuters reported that the United States wants guarantees that a Russian-built nuclear reactor in Iran will not advance a weapons program but does not think differences over the issue will block a U.N. sanctions resolution against Tehran.


Arabs want change but worry about a Democratic victory in US elections.

  • The Associated Press reported that Arab governments are looking for change in U.S. policy in the Middle East after the midterm elections, hoping a politically weakened President Bush will talk with Iran and Syria, show greater interest in the Palestinians and find a way out of the crisis in Iraq.


Ledeen: What does the president know, and when did he know it?

  • Michael Ledeen, The National Review Online reviewed recent statements where President Bush asks for Iran's help in Iraq and Lebanon. He asked: Can anyone — let alone the president — possibly believe that the mullahs might help Iraq succeed? The only “success” they are interested in is the humiliation of America and the domination of Iraq.

  • Middle East Newsline reported that Syrian opposition sources said the regime of President Bashar Assad has given Iran "carte blanche" in Syria. The sources said that unlike his late father, Bashar has allowed Iranian clerics to spread the Shi'ite religion in Syria.
  • The Times Online published a report by a Muslim woman who lives under a death threat for daring to challenge the Islamic patriarchy and says the West must support women like her if it wants to spread freedom.

Let me guess.. his "appropriate response" will be to send MORE money and weapons into Mookie in Iraq while ordering the Hezbo's to stir up some fresh trouble in their neck of the woods.

We need to wake the F up and call them on these surrogates and DO SOMETHING about them.
