Pop star George Michael is convinced he has no gay fans, because he's open about his homosexuality.
The Fast Love hitmaker, 43, 'came out' in April 1998 after he was arrested for "engaging in a lewd act" in a Beverly Hills, California public toilet.
Speaking on last night's George Michael - I'm Your Man: A South Bank Special show, Michael said, "I don't have many gay fans.
"Gay fans are only interested when you're 'in the closet'.
"Once you're out, they don't give a toss."

Uh, yeah. That must be the reason he has no straight fans either.

I think the truth is more along the lines of he has no fans that aren't gay.
To: bigbob
He's still a big draw in Europe, but he's nothing here in the US.

He simply has no talent. In the 80s he fooled a bunch of teenaged girls into liking him for his face and his butt.
BTW, anyone ever see Dana Carvey's spoof on Michael when he was on Saturday Night Live years ago? Hilareous!! "Look at my butt!! It's perfectly spherical and round! Worship my butt!"

I would guess that if he actually made enjoyable records he would have many fans of all sexual proclivities.

I had blocked that out I guess. Who was the other guy? He must not have been gay enough to extend his "career."

well, I guess they can join straight music lovers in ignoring your psychotic perverted behavior and lack of musical contribution to society.

hahahaahh funny. You know something else? I remember going to a Marshall Tucker concert a few years ago and being blown away by the lead singers voice. I don't know if that singer is still with the band... buy my G_D he had such a strong and pure voice... he could have easily stood next to Pavoratti and given him a serious run for his money. next time they come around the North east I'll be in the audience.
I know a thing or three about good voices / music having grown up in a household where traditional jazz bands used to come in and practice / record / play in my dad's studio. My dad still pays at the Sacramento and Newport Jazz festivals each year... and he's 78 years old.
