As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.
It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.
the word 'baloney' comes to mind. or perhaps something much like it...
Kerry's "apology": "I'm sorry you're all so stupid you couldn't read my mind and figure out what I meant to say and instead listened to what I actually said."
What a loser.
I thought he "refused to apologize" and now he is giving a scripted, crappy apology that NO ONE should accept. How hard would it have been to leave out the Republican attack in there? Anyone with a brain can see through this. Just say "I'm sorry"
This not exactly a real apology. What a jerk. Thank God he not the President.
As a combat veteran
Hey! Johnnie-boy! STFU!
I couldn't get past that.
But... but... he served in VIETNAAAAAM with GHENGIS KHAAAN!
"I said it before I really didn't say it."
Oh, yeah! This really corrects all this. What a sincere and straightforward apology. Sheesh!
John Kerry served? Really? He never mentions that.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted...
Nice passive voice there, Johnny. And it sounds like he's calling folks who were offended stupid.
Can't you frigging apologize without insulting someone, again, first?!
Democrats love to beat up on Bush and say he can never "own up to his mistakes." Here's a great moment in hypocrisy as John Kerry can't admit to the mistake he made, instead blaming us for not "interpreting" his words correctly. Yes, we're too stupid and simple to grasp the complex meaning behind your vicious insults. I never again want to hear another DemoCrite claim Bush won't admit mistakes when Kerry can't bring his prideful self to admit he was wrong and to issue an unequivocal apology.
"But any of you who were offended that I meant to call your Commander in Chief an idiot and a loser can just go to H#ll!"
the man doesn't have the class to stand up like a man and apologize in public - he has to hide behind whoever writes his web stuff.
