A Statement from John Kerry
As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.
It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I dont want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

Still can't make a simple apology like a man.......
To: jessduntno
That's not an apology. It's a lie. He wants us to believe that he didn't say what he clearly said.

He uses a passive verb, but the accusation is that if you thought he was talking about the troops then it's YOUR fault. Not his.

Too late...
Can't he make an "apology" without blaming someone else (Bush, The Republicans, RNC, American Legion) for his mistake. Dang it, John, just say that you're a dufus and that you're sorry for saying something so blastedly stupid. Then the whole issue, might be (I hope not), done.

That is the same thing Pelosi's office said when I called and complained about Kerry's statements. Her aid said he was "Sorry I misinterpreted what Kerry said".

Me thinks it has gotten a little hot in the Democratic kitchen the last couple of days.
I was trying to think of a good t-shirt to go with the champagne we are going to have when the Dems lose big next week.....
I like "Unedjumicated Infidel"..... so far, that's my favorite.

Well, that's one career down the drain. Wonder if he will have the honor to resign like he demanded of Trent Lott.

I said before that Kerry's apology was written by a staffer, but after seeing the bolded portion of the statement above, I stand corrected. There is no question that Kerry wrote that.

Keep talking Lurch............You are such a poor excuse for an American, let alone a US Senator. He has been taken to the woodshed by his fellow Dems, and his wife probably made him write this apology. Like a kid caught doing something wrong, he denies and denies till he finally has to apologize, and everyone knows he is not sincere. Dispicable

I noticed the only democrats telling Kerry to apologize are the ones running for office. They are a day late and a dollar short.
Where is Durbin, Kennedy, Reid and Pelosi et al out there telling Kerry he should apologize?
Just proof they agree with Kerry.
There is something else I would like to point out. Anyone who votes for a Democrat is taking a terrorist in the voting booth with them. They have the same talking points and mindset.

He din't apologize. Read closely, look for any aplogy-related words like "I'm sorry" or "I apologize," and then look at what they refer to. See if he wrote those words in reference to having said what he said.
He didn't. He "apologized" for other people "misinterpreting" what he said. As far as I can tell, he still stands by his words, and wants us to believe that he didn't mean what he actually said.
To: Shermy
"Blame the listener" strategy. Thus violating the first rule of Communication 101.

Quite. A statement in this tone, but with the phrase 'might reasonably be interpreted as depricating those in uniform' replacing 'were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform', issued in place of the rant he gave yesterday, would have been just and appropriate.

"... my poorly stated joke..."Jokes have a punchline, mr. kerry, and you forgot to bring one. And please don't try to tell us this "joke" was about President Bush, because he studied at least as hard as you did at Yale and then earned himself an MBA at Harvard and then passed ANG flight school. And (oh, yeah) he then went on to become Governor of Texas and President of the United States. George Bush doesn't look like he's "stuck," but you sure do, mr. kerry -- stuck on stupid with egg all over your face. Maybe you should have "studied harder."
To: jessduntno
kerry was NOT a combat veteran.
He was and remains a paper-cut coward.
He was a traitor to us then and he is a traitor to our Troops today.
