Mike Hatchs aggressive reputation showed through Thursday for one of the few times in this years heated gubernatorial race.
Hatch lashed out at Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Republicans for attacking his running mate, Judi Dutcher, over a recent incident in which the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party lieutenant governor candidate appeared to know nothing about E-85 ethanol.
This governor is afraid to debate me on issues, said Hatch, the current attorney general who recent polls show is narrowly leading Pawlenty in the governors race. He wants to beat up on a woman.
Hatchs anger overflowed during a Thursday morning telephone interview.
A Forum Communications reporter asked Hatch about Dutchers knowledge of ethanol and why she wasnt available to discuss the issue. Hatch abruptly ended the interview with: Youre nothing more than a Republican whore. Goodbye. He then hung up.

LOL
Soucheray should be classic today!!!!!
Makes for a great soundbite!
But will Hatch retaliate with a 'Pawlenty dropping the, ahem, "puck" ad?
Hack/whore - they just don't sound alike to me....
Jason Lewis is gonna flip out over this too.
I hope that Hugh Hewitt mentions it on his show as well.
A GOP whore?
Think about Monia Lewinsky on a date. What would any guy expect?
Now, think of any of the CNNMSNBCABCWaPoNYT 'babes' and what would any guy expect?
Soucheray discussing it now.
Mikey cost himself votes! A kindred spirit to Frankenkerry.
Mike Hatch is blaming Stanley Hubbard for a conspiracy against him. Says Hubbard urged a reporter to ask Dutcher about E85, says Hubbard is connected to Swift Boat vets blah blah, total meltdown of Hatch in progress.
[from KSTP's story: HERE
. . ."I just had one of those moments where my brain didn't kick into gear," Dutcher said Thursday, claiming campaign weariness.
Dutcher said she drives a Saab and has never used E-85. She did not answer any more questions asked by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
Hatch brushed off the comments Thursday, saying his running mate was just tired. He didn't want to talk about the ethanol issue, he was more concerned with the messenger.
"The fact is, at the end of a long day, someone has the right to say they don't remember something, and that's what happened," Hatch said.
However, the photographer of the interview confirms that the interview took place at 10:30 a.m.
Another golden nugget from Hatch's campaign was that the coffee shop (where the interview was taking place) was very noisy and Judi didn't understand the question.
Let's say for the sake of argument that this was true. I'll give Judi Dutcher that much slack.
If true, she needed to ask the reporter to repeat the question by saying "Geez, it's noisy in here. Can you repeate the question please?"
But she didn't. The truth is that she had no clue what E-85 was.
I wouldn't expect any candidate to be aware of all of the nuances of the ethanol industry - but I would expect them to at least be aware of what it is.
Now that's funny!
Thanks much.....
The daughters are smokin' hot though. At least one of them is, anyway, but I forget which.
That, coupled with their youth, give them a pass on a few things in my book. :-)
