I recall differently. I am quite sure Negroponte was very reluctant to make the release. I don't have a quick link. Maybe someone else has a link that would clarify.

I stand totally corrected! It appears that the Bush Admin wished to disclose un-translated docs.

(I remember as my daughter's ex-UN based boyfriend, who speaks and translates 9 languages, including arabic: and after I seriously pressured him to get out of unemployment to join a crew translating Saddam doc's, which he refused saying 'I'll never help that bastard Bush')

So, finally the smidgen of meat of the 38000 boxes of docs are finally being released.

BTY, my few hour Google search of the subject uncovered numerous references to our Freeper "jveritas" as instrumental in getting out the truth!
