Ping!
They will die out before they revolt. I think the population is psychologically damaged beyond repair. North Korea is 1984 for real.
This is a society where Stalinism has reached its logical conclusion.
Never forget that during the thirties, reporters for the New York Times were the greatest apologists for this type of society.
Whenever I see that "newspaper" on the stand today (I never read it) I am reminded of what they helped preserve.
2 million people starved to death by this government.
South Korea says they don't want to see the north korean government collapse, because being flooded with refugees would harm their economy.
That is a grossly immoral choice, when north korea is basically one large death camp. Those are their relatives.
OMG, there is almost nothing left of these people. I wonder if anyone realizes what a disaster this has become?
It makes me want to cry.
Pray for these people!
I wonder how a charcoal truck engine works?
My guess is that they burn the charcoal in a deliberately inefficient was to produce a lot of carbon monoxide, which is then piped into an ordinary internal combustion engine and burned in that engine. CO is combustible because it lacks the extra oxygen atom of CO2.
Makes my heart hurt.
Charcoal powered taxicabs were still around in Japan as late as 1955.
"Why?" Marty asked rhetorically.
Actually, it is not what you think. The purpose here is rather rudimentary pest control. Pyongyang is not in dire famine(not yet anyway.) When they have nothing but pine worms to eat in Pyongyang, N. Korean regime would have been already gone.
bump
Check out what the little pot-bellied dog-eating dictator is doing to these folks.
"I wonder how a charcoal truck engine works?"
Me too, never heard of one before.
From wikipedia on carbon monoxide:
During World War Two, carbon monoxide was used to keep motor vehicles running in parts of the world where gasoline was scarce. External charcoal or wood burners were fitted, and the carbon monoxide produced by gasification was piped to the carburetor. The CO in this case is known as "producer gas".
Slimes hack Walter Durante won a Pulitzer for lying to the American people from the Soviet Union, telling us all about what a paradise these hellholes were becoming, totally omitting the mass murders and the prison gulag.
"The content warns, "... You should not cut out power lines or communication lines ..."
It shows that N.Korea's disintegration at the fringes is getting closer and closer to Pyongyang. The final collapse now looks like a year or less away.
