Even though Cronkite was before my time, I still remember him for three things.

The Apollo 11 landings.

The Kennedy assassination.

And being the main reason the American public thought the Tet Offensive was a massive defeat for the United States.

Criminally immoral, viciously treasonous, nearly unforgivable.

He not only led the cheer section against the War in Vietnam, as a result he is indirectly responsible for the deaths of two million Asians after the withdrawal.

In addition he took a big part in covering up the murder of President Kennedy. Oswald couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a canon. Cronkite lied for LBJ, Hoover, and the other murderers who killed Kennedy.

Even though Cronkite was before my time, I still remember him for three things.

I was born in 1942 so I was there for the whole mess.

The name "Cronkite" always reminded me of "Kryptonite" (from the original Superman series)

The disgusting manner in which he gradually made us give up and lose in Vietnam, and the countless lives lost because of his actions overshadow every "good" thing he ever did (like narrate NASA missions....how tough is that to do?).
