CHRIS MATTHEWS SUNDAY SHOW
Andrew Sullivan, wistfully, predicts evangelicals will sit out this election. He's been on Christian Talk shows lately dontcha know, and he's an expert on Christians.
David Gregory argues a bit with Chris about the democrats having this election all sewned up . Maybe Gregory feels a bit embarrassed that Chris doesn't have the first stringers on this morning. Where is Howard Fineman, by the way? Where's Andrea Mitchell? I don't even know who Amy Sullivan is!
Chris asks, "What did Republicans get by controlling all 3 branches of government?" they got Abraham, Enron, the war, scandal, corruption, he says. (Chris Matthews usually answers his own questions...it's his way of clueing in the guests what they are supposed to say....should he ever shut up long enough for them to get a word in. )
David Gregory disagrees with Chris again after Chris laments the president got away with so much because he was so popular. "Bush wasn't so popular when he came in, he didn't have the wind at his back.", David reminds Chris.
Chatty Katy says republicans won't take back the senate, Gregory says it's too close to call. Sullivan says republicans will take 5, and chris agrees.
Matthews plays Reagan's open mike gaffe to illustrate how bad Kerry must be feeling.
"Christmas came early for everyone else running for president in 2008 " Chris says of Kerry's blunder. Chris is especially stricken at McCain's reaction, "McCain is making his bones on the back of his old friend Kerry," says Matthews. Again, Gregory won't agree with that assessment of John McCain.
That Katy british gal says McCain comes off looking very badly. (Oh dear, if she wants to come back on the show, she's got to bash McCain too. And I hope she'll wear her Clay Aiken red leather jacket when she does.) then comes video of Hillary's (pandering) comment. Chris plays her Kerry statement. He asks, what is this "inappropriate"? 'It sounds like he groped her", Chris says. (LOL at Chris' sexual mental leap.) Oh and Andrew Sullivan might cry tears of disappointment at McCain's betrayal. "I loved the guy", Sullivan says. Boo hoo, boo hoo...
"yes " 11 reporters on Chris' elite panel of reporters say Kerry has blown 2008, and only 1 of them says "no".
oh just found out Amy Sullivan is from The Washington Monthly. (Take 2 Midols and call me in the morning.)
My mistake, I'll clean my tiny TV screen....Chatty Katy Kay's jacket only looks like Aiken's red leather, it's really Prince's orange velveteen number.
TELL Chris something he doesn"t know segment:
Nancy Pelosi is expecting another grandchild says David Gregory, and says Bush will be the first person she will call because her daughter and Bush are such close friends.
Amy Sullivan predicts Hillary will not run for president. Temperamentally Hillary is a senator Sullivan says, she's happy there, well suited.
Oh get this from Andrew Sullivan!
Hastert, Reynolds, and Rove knew all about Foley for years,, says Andrew Sullivan. Sullivan is predicting what the Ethics committee will report. Even Chris is puzzled. "You said Rove?". Yes, Sullivan says, "Rove knew all about Foley for years, or Rove isn't Rove. Rove knows everything. and he was in on the cover up." Chris asks Sullivan, "you don't like Rove very much do you?", and childishly Dandy Nancy Andy says, "no comment". (Andrew, you can be soooo bitchy!)
Chris Matthews last segment speech is just plain boring, I think it was something about The Arnold.

WOW, your thread was "Front and Center" as I logged on.
It's going to be a great day.
remember 2002, 2004, when McAwful "guaranteed" that the Dems win everything in sight?
One can only hope Liddy Dole will be a no-show or develops lockjaw.
Good morning and thanks AB! I've been out of touch this week and I'm looking forward to learning what's been going on.
It appears Saddam will affect the various shows this morning too.
It's fun to watch their faces as they see it slipping away from them...
Chris Matthews. The gift that keeps on giving, and won't STFU!
He's debased himself so much over these past few years. Remember, Rush Limbaugh used to let him guest host form time to time back in the Clinton days. Not anymore. Matthews is BDS, 24/7.
Where's Ken Mehlman?
Great summary. I usually try, with great success, to miss Chris whenever he's on.
Oh, if they'd only put HoDee on at the same time as Mister Cheney...
They slithered back under the rocks until after the election.

The office Liberals have already stated that the only reason Dems will not take both House and Senate is due to voter fraud by Republicans. They were not in a good mood this week.
That discussion sounds like they all were sampling some of Gregory's 'private stash' prior to the show. These are high and giddy times for the seditious, Fourth Estate.
Today we should also pay attention to
STORIES OMMITTED by the Media.
The missing electronic voter cards for example.
the Saddam Death sentence.
Kerry's institutional arrogance.
HOW ABOUT THE FACT THAT NOW THE MSM IS GIVING UP THE SENATE for Democrats?
Reynolds' opponent, Jack Davis, has been slipping badly the past two weeks. He's now pledging not to reduce SS benefits or raise the retirement age, even though he said on a Buffalo, NY radio talk show that he would support reducing benefits and raising the retirement age.
Without getting into the 'whole SS issue, Davis has had to issue "clarification" on several of his statements. He's a very independent thinker - I've read of no visits by Senators Clinton or Schumer to assist his campaign, and he does not take any special interest money. But his flip-flopping on issues has hurt him.
Another New York House rep, Louise Slaughter, has not campaigned in almost two weeks due to having a fairly bad case of shingles, but her Republican opponent has received almost no financial assistance in his race from the Republican campaign organization at the national and state level.
Here 's this sunday's Media Nuggets
###### How low can they go! - First MSM, John Kerry & now Jack Carter[Jimmy Carter's son] trying to manipulate the Mom[democrat] of an Young Fallen Soldier and Fails Miserably. God Bless Those Heroes & their Families!
###### Michael. J. Fox should be ashamed!
###### Dee Dee Myers' husband & former NYTimer Todd Purdum writes a cover story on the architect, Karl Rove. Meanwhile, current "star" of NYTimes Fried his brain on RDS[happens when circulation & ad.revenue of his paper gets fried fast].
###### Chris Mathews of MSNBC Unfit to conduct Florida Gubernatorial debate? -> Another Florida paper Agrees.
###### NYTimes doctored Classified Iraq Document?
###### MSNBC's Washington D.C. VP & Hardball producer Tammy Haddad is on her way out as big bosses at GE are angry. CNN's election night sponsor is retirees group AARP[didn't they run the don't vote ad?]. Fox Re-considering Wesley Clark's military analyst-ship after his appearance on dem.antiwar ad [& lots of viewer outrage].
###### BDS backlash! - Air America Blacklisted by Advertisers! Soros people unhappy.
###### Rummy slaps Bill Kristol on Radio. Best Defense Secretary Ever -> Gateway Pundit
###### NYTimes fake-polling for dems Bull Dog Pundit expose!
###### Leading Newspapers Bleeding to death!
###### NY Post - Future of U.S. Newspapers! -> "Serious" newspapers like the NYTimes and the WashPost are seeing circulation declines, NYPost increases it's sales.
###### Fox News is showing serious signs of aging, led by steep audience declines - Media Life says. Nope. Because it 's become the Puppet of the MSM.
###### USA Today's "fake, but accurate" front pager.
###### Federal Judge Claude Hilton effectively places NYTimes in contempt of court saying it has no special previleges than an ordinary citizen.
There's a disconnect unless they think America is stupid. America thinks John Kerry hates the military and it showed last week. Once again we see precisely who is out of step with whom.
I agree with you, value voters, evangelicals, whatever you call them, will show up in force because of that preacher guy's gay prostitute/drug mess. And I bet this guarantees the one man/one woman marriage amendment in Colorado will pass with huge numbers.
John Mercurio, Hotline senior editor and Mark Plotkin, of WTOP Radio, gleefully chatter away on C-Span. (For a minute, I thought Plotkin was PA Gov Rendell. Mercurio is so tickled a caller mentioned his spikey do....I get a kick out of metro-sexuals, so consumed with their appearance.
Sorry I missed anything significant they had to say, it's just too much trivia, so not my fault. Hey, what can I say, I'm consumed with their appearance too. (Example trivia: The state of Washington is the only state west of the Misissippi that voted on Humphrey in 68. ) ho hum
Plotkin does go after Diebold voting machines.
Mercurio a Maryland native, disagrees with it being so strongly identified as a democrat stronghold. He says big suburbs is trending republican, a point not often mentioned.
The two giggly guests think Democrats will have their 2008 convention in Denver. Republicans already announced theirs will be in Minnesota.
Yes, Tammy Duckworth's opponent got the big VA's endorsement.
26 possible presidential candidates on the next CQ cover which comes out on 8 November. The guest question whether Allen is still a serious contender after his macaca blunder, but they don't mention Kerry's fall from grace.
This is it! We are here! Just heard a lady from Texas on C-Spam about an hour ago claiming she was a conservative Republican who was now voting against us since she didn't get her way.
I frantically tried to call c-spam but couldn't get in, so I e-mailed them, did the same yesterday on EC's show when the libertarian candidate said illegal immigration was o.k. It's not of course.
The next few days will tell it all, we need to stay the course and most of all encourage all the boortz/libertarian/pissed off pubbies not to "punish GW" or the party by staying home or not voting for us and voting for the terrorists choice(Democrats) instead.
You cannot send a message to Republicans by voting for the party of Al Qaeda--the dems.
They still have an R after Lindsey Graham's name?
Wow, just heard some lib caller barely able to get his point across - sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. I don't know how you can listen to the morning call-in show. It will be an absolute nutterville the next 3-4 days, even more than it already is...
PBS is having a Sunday morning Democrat coffee clatch. They're all warm and fuzzy chatting together about how the Republicans are going to take a drubbing. ["Remember, 9/11 happened on Bush's watch!"] I'm sure that they'll have the Republican coffee clatch next hour--right?
Meanwhile, the Houston Comical has a huge headline on their opinion page--How Did the Republican Right Get It So Wrong? And the Comical ombudsman is very busy apologizing for the fact that the Comical carried the Kerry story this week on page 10.
I'm disgusted.
That was a wonderful report.
As always Anita, thanks for your tidbits. I concur wholeheartedly with your take on FNC. They have started to align themselves more and more with old media, and have lost me as a viewer on quite a few shows. Brit is still the best, but they need to wake up and smell the coffee; I hope they do so soon.
LOL
We ought to spray paint FREE NANCY on overpasses around the country just like they used to spray FREE HUEY back in the seventies.
The thought crossed my mind too. However, I think it is more likely too much or a bad batch of Botox this time.
Fun at Just For Kerry's expense, hat tip Fausta's blog. We really like her!
This guy is voting Democrat, but he's a riot

"I like your Christ. I don't like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ"
As usual, you and other great comments make this a great thread every weekend. Contratulations to you, AB and all the winners.
Well gee, did that seat get competitive somehow? Hhhhhhmmmm. Maybe the polls are wrong. ;-)
Ed Morrisey at http://wwwcaptainsquartersblog.com is suspicious of the sudden attention on this Christian pastor story, since the church he pastored is not as large as the captain's parish church.
The accuser failed a lie detector test and there may be an investigation to find out if he was paid to come out with this story to influence the election.
What evangelical churches has A. Sullivan addressed, and in what capacity? His view of the world is now through the sliver of glass that is his homosexuality.
Our attitude to our own sexuality are normally just another aspect of our being, for Sullivan it has become the reason for his being.
:-) Hiya tol - What with the dancing in the streets of Iraq over the death sentence of Saddam Husseing, this should not be overlooked. Millions march to demonstrate Hugo Chavez
Hat tip Gateway Pundit

No bias here:
One of the office libs at work is fond of saying "well, how's your imaginary friend today?" He really cannot stand those who practice Christianity. Never a comment about Islam, etc.
He was as happy as a clam when word came concerning the minister in Colorado, so much so he was sporting a smile.
Fox has become the very thing that I turned off the alphabets for. They have very pretty girls, including Shep Smith, who chirp and smile inappropriately. They have "fun" segments that make me grind my teeth. They bring on highly partisan people for their "balance" rather that thoughtful people with different points of view. They should call Rush Limbaugh and ask him for a critique of how you keep the most informed audience on the planet. Right now, for example, the ladies are giggling about Saddam's death sentence.
I guess their heart isn't in it.
I can't find many stories on Saddam's sentencing... looks like that's gonna' get buried today.
Excellent!! Thank you.
