Ok, being a cynic, I am figuring worst case. We lose Ohio, PA and Montana. IF we get no pick ups, (and we are close in MN, NJ and Maryland so that may be unduly pessimistic), we have a Rep 52-Dem 46-Indy 2 (IND who will be Dems in everything but name)US Senate. If we have a really good day it may be as high as 54-44-2.

Considering the multi billion Junk Media contribution in kind Advertising campaign, that is a landslide victory for the party fighting the Midterms in the 2 term of a President in the same party. The Senate rarely gets more out of balance then 55-45. IF they can only pick up 1 seat the Dems with the deck so heavily stacked in Thieu favor as it is this year, the Dems may as well hang it up as a major party.

I think Montana is going to Burns, OH is in trouble as is PA.

NJ is a tough one because there isn't much inherent support for a republican candidate and no real counter trend against the corrupt Menendez.

MD is fascinating to myself at least. I think Steele has a excellent chance of winning.

RI is tough, but (holding nose) Incumbency is so powerful I think Chaffee will pull it out. Many people vote out of habit, and Chaffee's name is synonomous with RI politics through his father. If Chaffee was going to lose, it would have been in the primary race.

52-48 Republican in the Senate, but that isn't very effectively a majority. Snowe and other moderates will torpedo conservative nominees and agenda items.

Lieberman is a shoe in, Lament is toast, and that accomplishes several things. Lieberman is solidly behind the effort in Iraq, so that is a +, it also will drive the Kos Boys nuts, a Lieberman win crushes there "netroots" campaign.

I like your analysis. Of course, Dems will spin such a scenario as a major victory. They are too stupid to know the difference between that and a Pyrrhic victory.
