Interesting if 99% of the fighting, IEDs, etc are organized from these holdovers and can be stopped just on their say-so.

Exactly my thoughts. Funny thing is if true, Izzat is dead meat. Saddam felt earlier on, Douri had double crossed him, which probably was not true.
Izzat may now feel that Saddam is sitting in isolation with no contact with any lawyers etc., that could leak out an order that Izzat is to be shot. So he feels safe in camel trading. But I bet a dime the orders have been in place a long time by Iraqi Fedeeyen to take out all traitors upon given circumstances arising. At any rate. I believe Izzat is the most senior Saddamist still at large. It will be interesting to see how the next few weeks go, as this supposed national reconcillation continues to take hold.
