Ahmad Soboh, the Undersecretary of the Palestinian Authority Foreign Office, called for an immediate stop to the brain drain from PA-controlled Judea and Samaria (Yesha).
Soboh was speaking at an October 31 press conference organized by Shaml: The Palestinian Diaspora and Refugee Centre. The event highlighted the out-migration of Arabs from Judea and Samaria, which has been coupled with Israeli-imposed obstacles to residency requests by Arabs who wish to work, invest and live in areas under the control of the Palestinian Authority.
Soboh cited the fact that 10,000 residency applications by PA Arabs have been accepted by various Western countries in the past four months. Another 40,000 are on file. Most are university graduates or potential immigrants able to invest financially in their new country, he said, translating into a hemorrhaging loss for the remaining Arab population.
The emigration stems from a dissatisfaction over the current Hamas-led government. Because of the international aid boycott of the Palestinian Authority, some 165,000 civil servants have not been paid a regular salary since January when Hamas was elected. Those government employees and their families - they provide for one-third of the PA's population - have fallen into poverty. Compounding that hardship, day-to-day life has been disrupted by widespread strikes and armed clashes between Hamas and Fatah gunmen.
"Arab Brain Drain"
Isn't that an oxymoron?
yes
So what's two less Arabs around?
Id imagine that the IDF might like to help them drain their brains. If you did actually have a brain wouldnt leaving that
awful place be your most pressing priority?
...one which is long overdue. The Arab nations should have taken in the Palestinians 60 years ago.
It is not a Palestinian Brain Drain happening, Palestinians are not known to have ANY higher education. It is a Palestinian Drain, the real residents of the area are fleeing the flood of Jihadi pouring into the country to destroy Israel. In fact a recent demographic study showed there are more "Palestinians" living in South America that were born in Israel than their are "Palestinians" in Israel that were born here.
One does not have to be born in Palestine to be a Palestinian because Palestninian is a political party not a people group.
Just the facts, cold, hard and not politicaly correct. Just correct. Once you take the leftist added brain from the story, the truth comes out. The real Arab residents of the Israeli territories are fleeing the land because of the Syrian Hamas, and the Iranian Hizbullah, and the Egyption Islamic brotherhood and the Jordanian Palestinian Authority.
This is just the way it is. Most of the Palestinians are gone, only the ones too poor to buy a ticket are left.
Arabs can be as smart and clever and intelligent and inventive as anybody -- as long as their culture permits.
Which, sadly, it doesn't
"Arab Brain Drain"
Drip...
Drip...
OOhhhh...
All gone.
and as long as they're focused on destroying something.
The partition of Palestine has been such a whopping success that some critics of Iraq want to do the same thing there. Dems just perpetuate perennial problems instead of solving them.
Standard Leftist products.

The problem to me with educated Arabs leaving is that Osama and his ilk are all well-educated. Seems like that's where the Beheading-of-Infidels Movement foments. My gut inclination is NOT to welcome these immigrants.
...arab brain drain...
OMG, don't step in that puddle. :)
