Just heard Tony Snow say on the Hewitt(?) show that they were going to try to get a vote on Bolton during the lame duck congress. That means before the DEMS take control, right? Why would Frist say they would not vote?? We need Bolton in the UN!

Frist is clueless, and obviously out of the Bushies loop. - tom

And the obstructionism begins.... What goes around comes around though...

What are you smoking?? The Republicans in Congress have NEVER had the guts to use the same tactics used on them. They'll continue to "go along to get along," and the Democrats will continue to get their way on bill after bill, judge after judge, appointment after appointment. If I hadn't seen this happen year after year, I don't think I would believe it.

You know, what good would it do, really, if the Senate was 51 R and 49D? When the Senate was firmly in the hands of Republicans, what difference did it make? The Democrats are just way better and have had far more practice at every obstructionist strategy on the books. In fact, they've pretty much written the book. If the Republicans couldn't get their agenda passed while holding a majority in both Houses, they have absolutely no hope now.

I have a feeling that Bolton will not want to work for a RAT Congress or House and let his appointment laps. I think he will surmise that President Bush will just ride along with what the RATS want and will not rock the boat. It hurts me to say that but I think he is wore out. President Bush has taken a merciless beating by the MSM and the Hollywierds that no President has ever taken before. Add the brainless corrupt Democrats, well, enough is enough - hence the meeting with scrappleface.

sorry, the Reagan era is long gone.
what do the Dems gain by pulling a punch they can throw?

keep in mind, every individual Dem wants to be on TV,
do you think the Dem committee chairs are going to shut up?

the future is,
perpetual impeachment hearings
gov't shutdowns,
booby-trapped tax increases
deadlocked confirmations
global warming wacko-ism
veto veto veto

unless Bush sells out, of course

Please post links to Malkin bashing the GOP.

There is no link; it's just more sour grapes from the party hacks.

Voters that abadoned us for the donks did.

Oh please. Everyone that I knew voted for the Rs, how many threads were on FR that told conservatives to GET OUT, GET OUT, AND VOTE?

Quit making excuses. The Republicans lost, period.

"In September, Chafee — who was in a tight re-election race — said he would oppose Bolton's nomination until the administration answered questions about its policy in the Middle East"

Chafee needs to answer questions about his sanity.

"The American people have spoken out against the president's agenda on a number of fronts, and presumably one of those is on foreign policy," Chafee said. "And at this late stage in my term, I'm not going to endorse something the American people have spoke out against."

I sent a nice little note to Linc reminding him that Rhode Island had "spoken out" against his own agenda and that somehow in his narcissistic ignorance he had interpreted that as a need to carry the flag for the rest of the American people in opposing the appointment of John Bolton. I further informed him that his loss was not based upon him being Republican (no matter how much he wished it was), but rather upon his total and complete inability to govern in any way other than "bringing home the pork."

Finally, I encouraged him to submit his formal resignation as Republican to the nearest Republican. I shan't imagine we'll miss the self-aggrandizing fool.
