If Chafee had lost the GOP primary and then pulled a Lieberman and run as an independent is there anyone who doesn't think he'd be the Senator in January?

Nope. The Dem just would of won by a larger margin as Chaffe and Laffe split the non Democrat vote. However, if they had run Laffe. Does anyone doubt the Republican turnout been boosted beyond it's pathetic 20% showing?

I don't see it at all, he may have taken enough Repubs to guarantee the loss of the R candidate, but I don't see him pulling anywhere near enough Dems from Whitehouse. You have to remember the Conn Repub candidate was little more than a joke if you're honest about it.

Uh Yes..me Real Republicans in RI, and yes there are still a few of us, would never have voted for Chaffee over Laffey, (the primary challenger that Chaffee beat).

Instead we got to choose between Dumb and Dumber..Whitehouse and Chaffee.
