These families sure are getting a first hand education into why starting with GHB, we basically attempted to keep Saddam from eradicating the Kurds big, time by setting up the northern no fly zone. We prevented the Iraqi from air bombardment in many nortern cities for quite a few years, and Saddam did not after Operation Desert Storm dare send his army into action against them, in a big way. Of course OIF finally freed these peoples from their long sufferings. Imagine have to head to high mountain passes with your family with nothing but perhaps a donkey, some food, clothing, and blankets during the cold of winters to avoid being gassed, tortured, etc..
These people endured so much heart ache for so many years under the Butcher of Baghdad's reign.
Now they are free.
