I want to believe this...but republicans have a very weak bench (Guilania and McVain could never get nomination; Frist is weak; Allen - out; only Romney is feasible)

Clarity is needed. If we are at WAR, then fight a WAR....don't promote the amixture of 60% Marshall Plan + 20% democracy enabling + 20% shooting = War on Terror

Had Bush bombed Falujah (sp), this clarity/decisiveness would have propelled Republicans to victory...instead, he's tiptoeing around supposed moderate Muslim concerns and trying to please everybody.

Also, party distinctions have all but disappeared.

Clarity is needed.

How about a simple agenda...with actual goals and deadlines? I seem to recall it working in the past......

The weak & insecure will always avoid commitments and deadlines.....

Absolutely! And this goes for all of the Republicans. I just don't understand why they thought hacking for votes they will never get, while ignoring their steady voters would work!

Agreed...we had so much overwhelming momentum in Iraq when we rolled into Baghdad...then lost a lot of it when we put on the kid-gloves to deal with the mop-up. I'm hoping, with my fingers crossed, that when Sadaam swings the Iraqis will be at least a little emboldened to start stepping up to the plate for themselves.

From all I've heard/read, we've been just about as vigorous in enforcing the Iranian and Syrian borders as we've been in minding our own, and both in theater and domestically, those d@mn borders have been a big problem as well...

Nancy Peelousy says we're NOT at war...we just have a 'situation' that needs to be resolved...

Ain't that a hoot!?!

Let's win the "Situation" on Terrorism!!

No one ever mentions Mitch McConnell, who stood up against McCain-Feingold. Is there something bad about him that I don't know.

"Also, party distinctions have all but disappeared."

Although many of us voted straight GOP your quote above is where this election was lost. Other than a lot of bickering and a few major differences (abortion) both party's govern similarly. Term limits are the only answer to return to a citizen government. Also a ban on becoming a lobbyist after your done. Also no family members can be a lobbyist's as its like your the lotto number guy and your family is holding all the tickets.
