Seafood is a good source of vitamin-D also. Eat deep sea seafood to avoid most of the mercury related issues.
BTW, a lack of vitamin-D is what caused people to be white.

Cod liver oil as a tonic has been prescribed and recommended for decades for all manner of illness, my Grandma was always right, ugh - nasty tasting stuff, though.
