The core conservative base (the people who actually vote in pubby primaries) will never vote for McCain. There is no point in offering the number two spot to because McCain can't deliver any specific demographic in any appreciable numbers to bother with.

Romney's spineless and will be a "lousy push-over, give the dems what they want and let's make nice" president. The dems will ride him hard and put him away wet. Not what I want in a president. No Thank You.

Welcome to FR.

I will not vote for McCain or the party that runs him. I would prefer a conservative with conservative principles. We better decide what these are.

The uninfringed Second Amendment is a fine, for me, litmus test. Have you ever heard anyone advocate the uninfringed Second Amendment AND a moderate position on anything else?

Either we are equal or we are not. Good people should be armed where they will, with wits and guns.

I don't know anything about Sanford so I've gotten an open mind and am willing to learn more.

I like Santorum, but the press wants to burn him in effigy so he might be a bit of a lightning rod that way. But the MSM is going to go after any candidate with an R after his name, so if he's game, I am too.

I will vote for whoever the Republican nominee is.

No wat I would vote for McCain in the Republican Presidential Primary.

If the Manchurian Candidate where running against the Hildabeast, I MIGHT hold my nose and vote for him, but don't bet the ranch on that..

Panama already rejected him, why do you think he's running here?

Romney's spineless and will be a "lousy push-over, give the dems what they want and let's make nice" president.

And on what basis do you make this wild assumption? Do you live in Massachusetts? Have you been to any of his speeches? How much do you really know about him?

He makes quite an impression in person. I wouldn't count him out just yet. I don't see anyone else with much more testicular fortitude around that is electable.

I wholeheartedly agree, we don't need any wimps for president.

I'm 29 and there is no way McCain will get my vote in the primary. I held my nose voting for Dole, proudly voted twice for President Bush, but McCain ain't happenin' for me.

FLYING HIGH

It isn’t only his duties as governor that take Sanford away from home and family. He
also is a captain in the Air Force Reserves and must meet regular commitments that take
him out of state.

He was commissioned in January 2002 as a first lieutenant in the Reserves, a member of a
medical evacuation team based in Charleston. In 2005, he transferred to an Air Force
emergency preparedness agency out of Atlanta. The new unit gives him greater
flexibility on service

http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/special_packages/election2006/15704902.htm

He was part of the Class of '94 but left in 2000 per his campaign promise on term limits.

He's known as a tightwad.

He's known to not be shy about his power to veto pork-laden bills.

He was just re-elected as Gov of SC.

In case you didn't catch onto it he is currently enlisted in the Air Force Reserves.

Here is a petition to Draft Mark Sanford. It was just trolled today by someone so I'm trying to get ahold of the guy who started the petition to see if he can clean it up but have a look see. =)

I think 68 or 69?

Can't trust him. Very little difference between him and a liberal.

If he's nominated, I will, for the first time since I cast my first vote
for Richard Nixon, stay home.

He is too old, wobbly on conservative issues, and he can be unstable.
