Liberal groups expect postelection results
Los Angeles Times ^ | 12 November 2006 | Peter Wallsten and Janet Hook,

WASHINGTON — After toppling the long-dominant Republicans in a hard-fought election, the Democratic Party's incoming congressional leaders have immediately found themselves in another difficult struggle — with their own supporters...

...Lobbyists for the American Civil Liberties Union, for example, are all but counting on Democrats to repeal the most controversial provisions of the Patriot Act, the anti-terrorist law pushed by the White House that some critics call unconstitutional. They also want to end President Bush's domestic wiretapping program...

...Similar vows are coming from lobbyists for abortion rights, who want to expand family-planning options for poor women and scale back Bush's focus on abstinence education, and from gun-control advocates, who hope to revive a lapsed ban on assault weapons. Labor unions, a core Democratic constituency, are demanding universal healthcare and laws discouraging corporations from seeking inexpensive labor overseas....

Elections matter. The whole idea is not to take a position before the election. Hilary are you listening?

I, for one, would like to see a battle royale over ALL these issues to take place right before the next terroist attack on US soil, preferably sometime in the summer of 2008.

Maybe then the attention-deficient American electorate could manage to hold it in mind that we are in a state of war all the way to the ballot box. Maybe they might consider the consequences BEFORE electing traitors to public office.

Liberal groups expect postelection results.

We conservatives expected postelection results after 2000, 2002, and 2004. Never happened. Our republican politicians heard us, but didn't listen. Now look where they are. Watch out. The libs are gonna be mad over the next 2 years. Their politicians hear them, but they won't listen. Thank God!

The absolute spectacles the DBM/dems will make trying to impeach Bush/Cheney is going to be hilarious!! They're going to spend two years trying to tear down what's been built up to protect America, and people are NOT going to stand for it!

By the DBM/dems trying to please our enemies, domestic and foreign they will end up sinking their ship even before they board! There HATRED for Bush knows no boundries. The next two years are going to be strickly pay back for 2002, and trying to secure a permenate way to remain in power forever!

Hopefully, the liberals should be able to be distracted by impeachment.

In spite of this long and absurd agenda, the issue most dear to the heart of these leftists is their hatred of President Bush.

Two years of subpoenas, hearings, court battles and appeals w/ Bush should be distractive enough to run out the clock and prevent any of the damage that the liberals would like to bring upon the country.

The inherent problem is that Moonbats are great at demanding things--they want the clarity of dictatorship--but they are miserable when they have to bargain for what they want.

For all their talk about the importance of cooperation and how vital it is for people to build a consensus, they show themselves to be the intolerant, arrogant bigots that they are.

Liberal groups are demanding the destruction of America and the ultimate dismantling of our military so they can spend the money on social programs.

The self satisfied 'I Told You So' crowd considers themselves the winners. They care not a bit about the consequences of their endless Bush bashing.

Evidently too many republicans forgot we are at war.

Lot of faux patriots on our side who use our soldiers as fodder for their talk shows.

Being probably the smallest 6th year gains of the oposition in presidential history, this is NOT a "mandate".

Now is the time when so many of the bills the GOP President and Congress failed to enact between 2001 and now is gonna haunt us - things like the bill to prevent the ACLU from collecting legal fees. Let's just hope Nancy and the Dems are as incompetent as Bush and the Republicans.

What will be Pelosi's gays-in-the-military moment, when the electorate realizes that she is going way beyond any "mandate" she thought she had, in order to please some interest group she felt she had to placate?

An electorate who votes solely AGAINST a party for real OR trumped up reasons is usually disappointed. An example that comes to mind is Ford vs. Carter.

Wonder if Hillary will be as successful at traingulating between liberals and Bush as Slick Willie was.

DU is flipping out over impeachment "off the table". The nutroots are going to sit on their hands in '08, believe it.

I respectfully disagree.

8 years with Clinton and they never expected results, nor demanded accountability. As long as their party is in charge, some mystical beneficient haze seems to fall over the land.

1998? Remember the words of Jack Kennedy: 50% plus one is a mandate.

Now why would "lobbyists for abortion rights" want to "scale back Bush's focus on abstinence education?" Is it a matter of "principle?" Is it because their abortion providers are running a business? I think most sensible people know the answer to those questions.

While I agree with what you are saying one thing I won't do is accuse all those Americans who stayed home or that voted for a Dem-wit of suffering with ADD.
I voted Republican across the board but not without holding my nose. I can't blame others for feeling disenfranchised and abandoned by those we have elected to represent us. Too often our "representatives" only represent themselves and I, like millions of others, am tired of it. I don't like the way the war on terror is being fought. I want our enemies annihilated. Wipe them off the face of the earth and then decide if how we annihilated them was ethical or not. I want the unrestricted slaughter of 1.5 million American babies each year to STOP!
I don't want to debate this issue. It's wrong and I want my representatives to stand up and say its wrong.
I want all sodomites institutionalized. They are sick and twisted abominations and they have no place in a civilized, free society. Having sodomites in government confuses other representatives to the point where they are incapable of understanding that one man and one woman are what constitutes the cornerstone of any family and any such confusion signals said nation's doom. Just look at what happened to Athens, Rome and what is currently happening to the US; to name a few.
I want our legislative branch to legislate and our judicial branch to adjudicate. More importantly I want the laws that are already on the books enforced. I want the invasion of our nation stopped by any and all means necessary. I want all the bogus regulations that are placed on the small businessman REMOVED and I want to completely defund both NEAs. All the National Education Association is is a bureaucratic group of "Progressives" that use our hard earned money to run their Marxist indoctrination camps and the National Endowment for the Arts is hell bent on funding perversion.
I want all labor unions disbanded and outlawed, welfare programs stopped and I want the United Nations kicked out of the United States and our membership ended. I'm tired of funding crooks and gang leaders.

Is anybody listening to me? Not likely but it's the love I have for my country that keeps me heading to the polls every election. How long can I continue? I see many of my fellow US Citizens becoming as exasperated as I am and choosing to stay home when it's time to vote. They, like me, are tired of electing RINOs (Liars and hypocrites.) They, like me, are beginning to believe that there is a plan much bigger than us that we cannot stop so... why try?

JMHO!

"We conservatives expected postelection results after 2000, 2002, and 2004. Never happened."

What exactly did you want? You got 2 conservative Supreme Court Justices, lower tax brackets, a strong foreign policy... and then the Conservatives blew it this election by leting the DEMs in and now you are going to get a pro gay marriage Supreme Court Judge!

What exactly did you want?
