American Priest Says no Peace without Syria
Syria Arab News Agency ^ | November 13, 2006 | Mazen / Zahra

Posted on 11/14/2006 6:55:53 AM PST by TommyDale

American Protestant Pastor Rick Warren on Monday said there was no peace in the region without Syria, noting that 80 percent of the American people rejected what the US Administration is doing in Iraq and considered the US policy in the Mideast as wrong.

Syria’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Badr al-Din Hassoun received the American Pastor in Damascus in which he referred to the importance of spreading culture of amity, peace and coexistence instead of the 'clash of civilizations'.

The Mufti called for conveying the real image of Syria, national unity and its call to spread peace, amity and justice to the American people which the US administration has distorted their image before the world.

Pastor Warren expressed admiration of Syria and the coexistence he saw between Muslims and Christians, stressing that he will convey this image to his church and country.

Yes, I see they refer to him as a "priest". What a joke.

Christians in Syria are treated as 2nd and 3rd class citizens. However, this is pretty much better than any other middle east country.

Now it's 80 percent. Poll must of been taken in San Francisco with 400 likely ex-hippies responding.

Syria and Iran are the number 1 providers of technology and expertise in the construction of improvised explosive devices being used in Iraq.

This is a Syrian Arab news source telling us what Warren has said. Before believing them I would like to see a direct quote from Warren in a trustworthy news source.

I'd be satisfied with a trustworthy news source!

I did a Google and an Ask.com news search for "Rick Warren" and "Syria" and this news source (SANA) was the only one to appear.

Actually, he is correct, in a weird sort of way.

There never will be peace until dictatorships are replaced with real democracies. Dictatorships like Syria.

Would anyone imagine a democratic Syria being belligerent?

Heck no. They would be too busy making a good life for themselves.

I would be suspect of what is written in the Syrian media and what Rick Warren actually said. Warren is a very conservative guy, he supports the end of the liberal drift of the Episcopal Church, was a major critic of 42 and his actions in office and has worked hard to end the social slippage our our time.

He is an opportunist. And I am afraid he is beginning to believe his own publicity.

".. His PEACE plan? .."

Of course! Whether this particular report is true or not, those who don't recognize messianic megalomaniacs when they encounter them, lack discernment and are begging to be fleeced by every grifter that crosses their path.

There really are those who covet power and adoration over wealth, as hard as that is for some to believe. :)

I'm willing to wait as well.. A photo op and a news article released by a state controlled press does not always lead to the truth.

There is a mis-print in the opening sentence.

American Protestant Pastor Rick Warren on Monday said there was no peace in the region without Syria,

There it is,now an actual factual statement!
