Class and cultural snobbery has been around since rocks cooled, and always will. To be honest with you, I don't know anybody, none, zippo, nada, where religion is a central theme in their life. In fact, I know few who bother to go to church/temple at all, and nobody but nobody talks about religion in conversation except myself, and I do it as a hobby and matter of intellectual interest. So I guess there real is a cultural divide when it comes to interpersonal contact.

You know, I spoke of frontpagemag.com in a previous post. It is a remarkable work by David Horowitz and I'm grateful to get to read it. I get the impression--just an impression, please--that he is likely not a very observant Jew. However he observes, he loves Israel deeply and is tireless in her support. He seems to have a deep well of tolerance for the cultural differences of his natural ideological allies--cops, religious right Christians, soldiers, indendiary blonde columnists, talk-show hosts (who are more likely to know Joe Sixpack)--I recommend it. He shows that it can be done.
