Verne Kennedy ran a poll that is being widely discussed on the governor's race in 2007. The 600-sample poll of likely voters was conducted Oct. 24-30 and was partly financed by Metairie businessman John Georges, who is interested in running as a Republican.
The results made public were: Jindal 52%; Gov. Kathleen Blanco, 20%; Sen. David Vitter, 9%; Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, 9%; Congressman Charlie Melancon, 3%. But in other questions, with no names used, respondents said they favored a business leader over a political leader by 2-1.

It's never too early, especally when Blanco "The Misake" needs to go.

I would hope at think point she would be losing in polls to "generic opponent"

Louisiana is a Red State outside of the greater New Orleans area. Much of Blanco's--as well as the Landrieu family's--constituency has been scattered to all parts of the country by Katrina. Many of those evacuees will settle in the communities where fate delivered them.
What I'd really like to see happen in New Orleans is a smaller city based on the historic districts, casinos, night clubs, sports, the international business sector and port. Demolish the rest of it and use the rubble to raise the elevation in some sections and build bigger levees. Neighborhoods excluded from the plan could go back to wetlands.

Jindal is a rising star. Very impressive guy, was president of the University system of Loiusiana at the age of 28.

I hope he runs against Landrieu and goes to the Senate. But I know most Louisianans want him to come home and become their Governor. Lord knows they desperately need a competent Governor for a change.

I've seen him interviewed several times on TV and he comes off as low-key and serious.

Louisiana is a Red State outside of New Oleans Proper!

You're right. A few days after Katrina I drove down with a church group and we worked at an evacuee shelter set up at Nickles State College in Thibadoux. I was surrounded by coon asses and rednecks. I loved it.

Jindal 52%; Gov. Kathleen Blanco, 20%; Sen. David Vitter, 9%; Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, 9%; Is this just some sort of list made up by pollsters? Why would a first term US Senator like Vitter run for Governor? That would be dumb.
To: LdSentinal
Most of the Republican Senators who lost couple weeks ago had similar margins of winning in polls taken in the beginning of this year. It's just too early to make anything out of polls taken too far from the election.

"I hope he runs against Landrieu and goes to the Senate. But I know most Louisianans want him to come home and become their Governor. Lord knows they desperately need a competent Governor for a change." He's plenty young enough to do both. Probably better Governor first, then Senate.
Jindal for President??
To: LdSentinal
why...she will just go on tv and cry...then blame Bush and every displaced person from the chocolate city will vote for her!!!
