According to the WaPost, "It wasn't that many months ago that Allen was seen by political insiders as already in the top tier of prospective Republican presidential candidates. In April 2005, he finished first in a National Journal magazine survey of insiders asked to predict the 2008 GOP nominee. In May, Allen finished second behind Arizona Sen. John McCain."

Washington Post huh?
/sarc Now that's a real reliable, trutrthful source for you right there.
sarc off When did the Washington Post last speak the truth about ANYTHING?
Is this the same Washington Post that virtually run a shameless campaign for Allen's opponent, Jim Webb, and attacked Allen non-stop over the "macaca" remark, and blew it out of all proportion?
And you believe their rubbish about Allen?
Excuse me while I throw up will you?
And BTW, I still don't see any poll from the American public in that quote of yours.
The Washington Post quoting anonymous, unknown, "insiders" is not something that I am going to accept, given their record on lying about everything to do with Republicans.
There is not a SINGLE poll, that had Allen ahead of either McCain or Guiliani.
Not even close.
He was always far behind either of them.
Hint : Secret Washington Post "pols" from "insiders" don't count.

I've seen other posters who start to mirror Al Kaida ...saying they'd rather lose a major American city then have Rudy who believes abortion should be legal who would be tougher then some pro-lifers on national security.

Personally, I think the same things happen when elect one liberal or another. I do not think Rudy will make us safer than Hillary. Or Chuck Schumer. The problem is liberalism. There are no indications in his record to show us he actually is tough on terrorism. Or that he has some master plan. If he does, let's hear it.

You all seem to think you can rush into the room, scream "Rudy Rudy Rudy he will save us" and we all just hand you the nomination and the Dims swarm to vote for him. In some bizarre way, you have concluded that the GOP was far too conservative in 2006 elections and that the cure is to field the most liberal candidate for president in history. More liberal than George McGovern back in '72, more liberal than Walter Mondale and Mike Dukakis. Worse, more liberal than Hillary on some issues. Like PBA and gay rights. She will run to his right and he'll be helpless.

I think it will be a tooth-and-nail fight for the nomination. The liberals' insistence on a Rudy may fatally wound anyone who wins the nomination. And his liberal policy record will destroy the party's downstream conservative candidates. Well, unless they are very very liberal like Rudy is.

We already saw what Bob Dole's public disagreement with the party platform produced back in '96. We don't need a repeat because some northeastern Republicans prefer only to have a choice between two liberal candidates for president. I'd point out that this is the exact situation which has developed in Canada, a country with two very liberal dominant parties.

Every politician he campaigned for was a loser. I think that shows how unpopular he is among conservatives. He may lead the polls, but only on the strength of his name recognition. As people learn of his liberal views, they drop like flies. He has 25% ratings, which translates to 75% against him within the Republican Party.

That particular scare tactic from you is getting so old.

Your notion that every schoolchild studies and admires the life history of one Rudy Giuliani is just amazing.

Very few people know much about his politics. FR is a site for political junkies and you find people even here who don't know yet. Joe and Martha Six-pack haven't read his biography yet. I don't think they're going to get around to it either.

Huh?
I think you are living on some different planet.
I have seen figures from the New York Post about people he campaigned for who won.
According to you everyone Giuliani campaigned for lost.
perhaps you will supply us with your source, yes?

No one has said that here, apart from you.
On the other hand your shilling for the Great Satan Hitlery is beyond contempt.
How you manage to sleep at night is beyond me.

Got me. I was too busy watching Republicans at FR chewing on Allen over macaca. It wasn't a popular remark, even to non-readers of the WaPost. Other than being surprised Allen could be so dumb in front of cameras, I stayed out of it.

There is not a SINGLE poll, that had Allen ahead of either McCain or Guiliani. Not even close.

If you keep repeating it long enough, I still won't think they mean anything two years out. Your confidence in them is a little like watching those videos of Chamberlain's triumphant return from Munich, waving his little scrap of paper.

There are plenty of indications/accomplishments you just choose to ignore them. I'm not going list them for you. I don't play that game with posters who pretend to be more ignorant then they are...however I did notice you chose to ignore my point that the very extremes start to blend... by desiring Hillary over Rudy because you believe him to be more liberal then her.......your there George.

Thats a friggin lie. Why do the Rudy haters need to lie to make their case?

Lie 1) He is for open borders. He is for border security.

Lie 2) He is for gay marriage. He is on record opposing it.

Lie 3) Once conservatives know his views they will drop support. News flash Einstein...conservative voters are not as stupid as you accuse them to be. In a recent poll of conservative KNOWLEDGABLE Iowa caucus voters who damn well know what Rudy's positions are he still came out on top.

I've been here long enough to ignore cheap bait. Under no circumstances do I favor Hitlery as president. I think all of you Rudy supporters will be pretty comfortable with her, given that Rudy is Hitlery on most issues that define conservatives.

After all, either way the election goes, you'd get a liberal New Yorker in the White House.
