The same people who say Rudy has no chance are the same people who thought Allen was going to be the nominee and believed there was a late rally for the Repubs and we were going to hold on or LOL even gain seats two weeks ago.

They live in an echo chamber, suffer from projection and think the polls are an MSM conspiracy. Their track record sux

If you think we can win by talking about Michael Schiavo, sexy novels, and stemcell research, you're wrong.

We will win by putting terrorism and the economy front and center, not by ceding those issues to Hillary! Clinton.

That means we send up one of our big hitters. Giuliani convinced me this year when he argued that it is our right as Republicans to politicize the war on terror, since wars are inherently political and Republicans have a right to make our case.

We have an opportunity the p'nwn the Democrats in a big way and take back the Congress. Social conservatives of all people should see the value of this, since we're one judge away from overturning Roe v Wade and sending the issue back to the states. In contrast, Hillary! would pack the high court with two or three more activist judges and set the pro-family movement back decades.

Think. Please. Don't be a DUmmie.

Some communist can go on CNN and accuratletly state "Just browse Free Republic, you'll find there all homophobes and cross dressing image collectors. Look how they vilified America's mayor,Rudy Giuliani"

Do you know anyone who votes Republican that ever watches CNN except perhaps to monitor enemy propaganda?

Now and then, I tune it in and marvel that such claptrap and boring news presentation can attract any audience at all.

Beyond that, FreeRepublic has had far worse material than these Rudy threads over the years. Those haven't made headlines on libmedia. And the DUmmies and Kos Kids don't make headlines on Fox News.

Run two social liberals for president and the Democrat will win.

Every time.

I never denied that Rudy may have some real accomplishments during his 8 years as mayor.

The main argument of the Rudy shills boils down to this: Conservatives are supposed to overlook his numerous character flaws, his enormous personal baggage, and his extreme and obnoxious liberal policies because he'd be tough on terrorism and the world's bad guys. As proof they offer his performance during and after 9/11. The shills make it sound as if Rudy's performance was greater than Churchill's in 1940, when Britain was teetering on the edge and almost went down to Hitler's Germany.

I simply have been asking for specific examples of this "great leadership" during and after 9/11 and still have only the two meager examples that I cited previously. Making speeches and tough rhetoric won't cut it against the terrorists, North Koreans, Iranians, etc., who, I am sure, are tougher and more resilient than the squeegee men of years past.

That's not the case.

Schwarzenegger won in a big way in liberal California, while Talent and Allen lost on our own turf to some pretty liberal people.

Our message sells in what is regarded as the most liberal areas of the country, but the need the message. Being 100% right on the issues won't do it alone, and going overboard with things like Terri Schiavo to appease the diehards actually hurts us.

This is a letter to the Editor of the NY Post. Obviously by a crank who hates Rudy to the Max.

Why copycat and repeat this crap? It has no meaning.

My experience is that almost all the Rudy haters are disgruntled Democrats in NYC. No indication at all of the popularity that Rudy has around the country.

Rudy’s Bernie Weekend
by Ben Smith
New York Observer
This column ran on page 17 in the 12/20/2004 edition of The New York Observer.

Three years and three months is a long time to keep your sainthood if you’re still among the living, so give Rudy Giuliani credit: He had a good run.But mark the date: On Dec. 11, 2004, in a splash of tabloid headlines, history returned to the man formerly known as "America’s Mayor." His attempt to install his former driver and rough-edged alter ego as the Secretary of Homeland Security backfired, his new Republican friends threw him overboard and, returning to New York, he found the city he’d once tamed turning on him, its cowed press militant and his old enemies—remember when Rudy had enemies?—gloating on television.

Not all of us supported the Schiavo thing. I didn't. I didn't support the Dubai ports flap either but I do live far inland so I left that one to the coastal people.
