Whites generally don't care what blacks say about them. That's why blacks can call whites 'cracker', 'honky', etc and the whites don't care. Blacks, however, care very much what whites say and react predictably.
The fact that Kramer reacted is more a reflection on Kramer than on whites in general. This is demonstrated by the difference in response between the black and white communities to the racial slurs that flew both ways. The whites couldn't care less what the blacks said.

Our verbal put-downs originally came with whips, enslavement, lynchings, beatings, rapes, death, imprisonments, tortures, deprivations, etc.
