A lot of the original hippies never looked that nasty.
Well, the French put the 'ass' in nasty. I suppose our boys and girls were a bit more clean, if not clean-cut.

I try to point this out to people who are democrats, so you belong to the party of ________ & __________ & fill in your own freak here.
It seems everyone I meet who's a democrat knows NOTHING about politics, but it seems voting democrat makes them "hip", etc.
I tell them if you want to be a REAL rebel you would be voting republican and get a tatoo of Ronald Reagan. It's real easy to be a "rebel" when you're actually just conforming and doing what everyone else is doing. e.g. getting pierced, tattood, listening to hip-hop, adopting the postitions of celebrities, the big media, Saturday Night Live, etc.
Those French hippies remind me of this bunch that come to Savannah and beg.They sport dreads ,nose rings,tattered clothes and are usually barefooted.Somebody was telling me they make so much money panhandling from old people that feel sorry for them,that they have bank debit cards and buy lots of junk food and beer with them.They usually hang with the local art students who think they're cool.
Junk food, phooey! They are probably making mortgage and car payments. We have some of these in NYC. Live in a rent control apartment on the Upper East Side or Brooklyn, take your tax-free cash, and go out with your friends each night.
Then why would they be walking around barefoot and living in the streets?
Easy money, easy lifestyle, and they know exactly how to play the role to pull people's heart strings.
I've seen the same semi-hippie couple here in Manhattan for 7 years. She does the talking, they both put on glum Cindy Sheehan faces, and play the same old scenes with the same tired spiel year after year.
I prefer the anti- hippie type hippies,The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.You can't help but laugh at their antics if you've ever seen the comic books.
I'll have to Google them and check 'em out.

I have most of the comic books from my pot smoke hazey days.I found one that was in color in Frankfurt,Germany years ago.I still pick them up and read them every now and then.
More like rats, mice and pigeons.
