Thanks :)
Bueno, Carlo! bueno!
Happy Turkey Day to y'all!
Yes, even in this bastion of veggiedom, there will be a 21 lb. bird for my mother and daughter and her ravenous boyfriend.
We will stop somewhere in the midst of all that food debauchery to be thankful that 1) we're living here 2)we are because of all our brave soldiers' sacrifices.
A toast to them.
C'ent anni!
Here's a little something you can make for breakfast while you're waiting for the turkey to cook...
Super Moist Pumpkin Bread
This recipe serves: 8
Preparation time : 20 minutes
Cooking time : 45 minutes
Ingredients
1/2 stick unsalted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup nonfat, plain yogurt
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
Cooking Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a bread pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat together the butter and sugar on high speed until smooth. With the mixer on low speed, add the egg and combine. Add the pumpkin, yogurt, honey and vanilla and combine until smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, ginger and allspice. Fold this mixture into the pumpkin mixture and combine until smooth.
4. Pour into the prepared pan and place in the center of the oven. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Serve with butter, honey butter, apple butter, or my favorite, pumpkin butter.

Carlo! Grazie!!! (smooch! - smooch!)
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
That would be a problem in my peanut brittle. I use real butter in my english toffee. I don't use karo much accept for certain candies.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Have you ever made that wonderful "saltine cracker candy"? It's nearly as good as English toffee.
Thanks Carlo, we'll try out the strawberry cheesecake for sure. Thanks so much, happy Thanksgiving!!
Even the bottle is beautiful. Thanks for the link.
This is a common theme I hear around this time of year. My two cents, fwiw - holidays are days of the year. Nothing more. The last Thursday in November and December 25 have no more power over me than May 7.
Now, we do use certain days to mark significant events. And those event can be most worthy of note. But, things do get all twisted and deformed when the trappings overshadow the reality of whatever the day is supposed to be about.
I do not need to make myself stressed and unhappy to fulfill others' expectations of what they think they need from holiday celebrations. Nor are others' obsessions and demands my problem.
I wonder if the stress enters because we may have neglected our families and friends throughout the year and feel we simply must use these opportunities to "make up for lost time?"
ymmv - ramble off
I love all forms of candy! I have received the cracker candy as a gift, but not made it. This year I will.
Three Corn Casserole (to die for!!)
Preheat 350, use 8 x 8 for single recipe (13 x 9 for double)
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
1 can kernel corn
1 can creamed corn
1 egg
1 stick softened butter
small container sour cream
Dump it all in bowl & stir until combined. Pour in Pam-sprayed pan. Cook for 30 minutes or until edges all around are brown.
Makes awesome side dish for casual or formal dinner!
Everyone will ask you for the recipe!!
Happy Thanksgiving! (we use this year-round)
Do you have a recipe for this candy? It sounds like I would really like it since Ilove toffee.
