Reminds me a of a picture thread I saw here a couple of years ago. An M1A1 had caved in the side of a canal - very soft earth after all - and slid in. They requested permission to destroy it in place but the CO said no, the jihadis will claim they destroyed it, get it back. So they guarded it overnight and brought in cranes and what not the next day. Eventually got it out, and repaired the canal. Good stuff, no harm done.
