Excellently stated; and the same is true for the former Confederacy as well.

Are you nuts or just ignorant? The Confederacy DID have recover economically - without help - after the war. What took them decades to recover from was a decade of despotic yankee military rule and plunder imposed AFTER the states ratifying the 13th Amendment ending slavery (not the 13th endorsed by Lincoln which would have made slavery permanent) refused to ratify the 14th (which imposed punitive ex post facto bills of attainder upon themselves - both being unconstitutional).
