Hundreds of schools to close after killings

From correspondents in Bangkok
November 25, 2006

THAILAND will close more than 300 public schools in the country's restive Muslim-majority south after two Buddhist teachers were killed by suspected Islamic militants this week, an official said.

The decision will affect all 334 schools, ranging from elementary to high schools, in Pattani, one of three violence-torn southern provinces bordering Malaysia, the official said.

"We have to close all schools in Pattani indefinitely because no one can guarantee teachers' safety," said Boonsom Thongsriplai, the chairman of the Teachers Federation of Pattani (TFP). The closure will be effective as of Monday.

The closure was in response to the killings of two Buddhist school teachers in Pattani this week.

Non Chaisuwan, a 48-year-old school director, was gunned down Friday inside his parked car by militants, who then set fire to the bullet-riddled vehicle.

Islam's bloody march across the Earth continues.

From the article:

"We have to close all schools in Pattani indefinitely because no one can guarantee teachers' safety," said Boonsom Thongsriplai, the chairman of the Teachers Federation of Pattani (TFP). The closure will be effective as of Monday.

A victory for Islam.  Now, only Islamic 'schools' will be available, and so the terror / indoctrination / terror template continues and escalates.

Please say a prayer for the good people of Thailand, and for their children's future, which is in great jeopardy.

Non Chaisuwan, a 48-year-old school director, was gunned down Friday inside his parked car by militants, who then set fire to the bullet-riddled vehicle. The TFP said Mr Non was the 60th teacher killed during three years of unrest in the south. On Thursday, Suradej Waddeanga, a 40-year-old Buddhist school teacher, was shot dead in a drive-by shooting after work.

Yes, knowledge and the spread of truth are among their greatest threats.

Kindness, dedication to honorable conduct and an effort at proportionality in this battle are virtues that tend to hamstring us, while causing the breathtaking brutality to gain strength and become emboldened even further.

Western civilization is under a great threat, and it is precisely our Western values and virtues which in many ways hinder us from waging an effective battle.

No, it is the American culture and Bush. No wait, it is the Christian Crusade against the peace loving Islamic peoples. OOPs, the teachers were Buddhists. Those weren't Buddhists they were infidels. /sarc

Despicable religion.

Even after all this time, I still have trouble fully grasping this utterly inhuman love of Death that they revel in.

Islam is worse, perhaps far worse than Nazism.  At least the Nazis built concentration camps and a few lucky souls even survived them.  Islamists don't want to build camps for the infidels, and they don't want any of us to survive.  Not even one, and an extra second of life for an infidel is a second wasted, in their view.

I wish that I were young enough to join the military, so that I could give some direct payback.  This insanity just can't be allowed to continue..

Islamics SUSPECTED?

Yeah, well, that's what the article states.  They are forced to say that because they don't have anyone in custody quite yet for this latest atrocity.

Fortunately, we don't need to pussyfoot around and can call it what it is.

Hence my "quotation" marks, denoting the silly nature of the statement.

"Western civilization is under a great threat, and it is precisely our Western values and virtues which in many ways hinder us from waging an effective battle."

A sure-fire recipe for extinction unless we wake up and accept the fact that there is a time for all things, especially survival.

If we become extinct, it will be because we mis-label our cowardice as tolerance, our defeat as God's will.

The Left has already taken this label and printed it on a million flags, which they proudly march behind as they grind our culture, and our collective will to fight, into the ground..

If we are to achieve a solid victory against Islam, we must first defeat the Left,  Just as Islam has it's madrassas which indoctrinate the young into hateful little death-lovers, so also does the Left have control over our once-great Universities, where they teach our children that America and the West is corrupt and evil and not worth defending.

We have a very long fight ahead of us, on multiple fronts.

Teacher slayings shut Thai schools - CNN.com

Teacher slayings shut Thai schools

POSTED: 3:49 a.m. EST, November 25, 2006

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Hundreds of schools in Thailand's restive south will shut their doors in response to increasingly vicious attacks by suspected Muslim insurgents against teachers and schools, an official said Saturday.

The closure, which begins Monday, affects all 336 primary and secondary schools in the province of Pattani, where two teachers were fatally shot by suspected insurgents in the past two days.

In one of the killings, attackers shot a school principal Friday, and then set his body on fire. The principal became the 59th teacher or school official killed in three years of violence, said Bunsom Thongsriprai, president of the Teachers' Association in Pattani.

"Teachers can't bear what has happened," Bunsom said. "They are paranoid, worried and afraid." He said the province's schools, which teach about 100,000 students, will reopen when teachers feel safe.

More than 1,800 people have died from violence in Thailand's three southernmost, Muslim-majority provinces -- Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat -- since an Islamic insurgency flared in January 2004.

Teachers have always been occasional targets, seen by insurgents as representatives of the government and easy targets. But recently, teachers and schools have been attacked on an almost daily basis.

On Thursday, 96 schools across Yala were ordered closed as a safety precaution after a school was burned down the day before. It was one of several schools in the province recently targeted by arsonists.

The Yala schools were initially scheduled to reopen Monday but school authorities have decided to keep them closed until further notice, said Sanya Suwannapho, head of the Association of Teachers in Yala province.

Thailand's new military-installed government has pledged to make peace in the south a priority, and reverse the hardline policies of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted in a Sept. 19 coup.

Defense Minister Boonrawd Somtat said Friday that insurgents had stepped up violence to keep residents from accepting new peace overtures from the authorities.

"They have intensified violent attacks to intimidate and terrify people," Boonrawd said, adding that the shadowy groups behind the violence have not accepted government offers to hold talks.

Funny, I don't remember hearing that the new Thai regime was including
plans to just "cut and run" in terms of education in parts of Thailand.

But maybe that was an unspoken part of their new "let's talk nicely
with the murderers" policy.

Maybe having Madrassas as the only available schools will make them
happy and non-violent.

Not only a murder, but a BBQ!

Just got off the phone with a friend stationed in Yala. Things are very tense at the moments because of a number of threats. An attack just happened that hasn't made the news yet. Not sure how many dead.

Again, if anyone wants to help out the good guys, please FRmail me.

They are doing something about it, but there is only so much they can do. Just like Iraq, this isn't just a military/police issue. The guys on the ground are really good guys and seriously want to do their job, but have limited resources and equipment at their disposal.

As I stated on another thread, it is rainy season in the south now, and the muslims are out digging up the middle of roads and planting bombs in them. By morning, the rains have erased all traces. When a patrol goes by, they blow the bomb and the soldiers and whoever else goes with it. What are the soldiers supposed to do? This is just one example.

I, personally, am doing what I can to get some of the guys some gear that they need. They are in need of a lot of things, even simple bandages. The patrols don't have any. They don't have armor either. (Unfortunately, the Thai government requires quite a bit of paperwork to bring it into the country or I would be doing my best to get it to them.) Too many people want to complain and too few what to actually do something to make things better.
