Four Austrian police officers have been suspended after allegations they made racist comments to an Olympic athlete.

Tuncay Caliskan,an Austrian of Turkish descent, competes at the international level in Taekwondo.

Mr Caliskan, 29, said the racist slurs came when he sought help at a Vienna police station after being threatened by a man with a baseball bat.

The city's police have been accused of several cases of brutality towards immigrants over the past two years.

In this case, a police spokesman confirmed that there had been a "violent and loud" confrontation in the police station.

He said all four officers - three men and a woman - would be required to attend training in human rights and sensitivity.

Mr Caliskan competed on behalf of Austria in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2004 Athens games.

I work with a guy who had to go to sensitivity training, and now when he sees a sad movie, he cries.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.

So why didn't he - the taekwondo expert - take the bat away and bust the attacker over the head with it?

When did they start playing baseball in Austria?

Probably for the same reason that a karate expert wouldn't take a gun away from a gun-wielding assailant. Martial arts are useful, but a weapon, even a baseball bat, gives an advantage.

As for baseball in Austria, one of the European freepers might know. However, a lot of Europeans seem to be into American things, so it would make sense that their would be baseball bats, too.

That's what I do whenever some weirdo with a baseball bat scares me; I go duke it out with four policemen.
