Didn't I read somewhere a while ago the UND mascot is used with the support of the Sioux?

IIRC, They took a vote or did a survey of local Indian tribes before they could use the name, and the Indians were overwhelmingly supportive.

The same thing happened at Eastern Michigan about 20 years ago. The team was named after the Huron tribe. The tribe considered it an honor and requested the school keep the nickname. But the administration said, "What do a bunch of dumb Indians know?"

Here's betting the Fighting Sioux kicks some butt that night.

Yes. As is the use of "Seminoles" by Florida State, and "Fightin' Irish" by the Irish. These no-nothing liberals should mind their own business. Unfortunately, this sort of mentality has infected the NCAA as well, it's not just Dartmouth. Even the University of Iowa won't schedule teams with such nicknames. Of course, if they end up in a tournament or bowl game where there is money to be made, the Hawks certainly won't forfeit. :)
