I wonder why they wanted belt extenders, to make garrotes? Or were they hoping to switch them for some they somehow smuggled aboard that were disguised "belt bombs". Or that they could possibly probe into carrying these extenders onto a plane without suspicion saying they mistakenly kept them after the flight and were returning them? They have a fetsh about belt bombs we all know that and I suspect its possible they have found a way to create an explosive device of different belts each having an inert undetectable chemical but when combined could be dangerous, its a longshot but its a gut feeling.
