WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2006 -- The Marine Corps is renowned for its fighting ability, but the organization also is famous for its nearly 60-year tradition of ensuring needy children dont have empty Christmas stockings.
The Toys for Tots program began in the fall of 1947 when a group of Marine Reservists based in Los Angeles collected and delivered 5,000 toys to local needy children, according to the Toys for Tots non-profit foundation Web site. |

I'm honored to say that my late Bro, with 27-years as a Marine, was one of the founders of TFT. He was a hero as Marine and as a toy collector too.
Think it's the same or different?
Ever since the recent rejection of Jesus dolls that quote scripture that were donated to TFT, I refuse to have anything to do with that organization. It's Christmas and the Jesus dolls quote scripture . . . harmless, one would think. But Toys for Tots want NOTHING TO DO WITH JESUS. They were too controversial.
The hell with Toys for Tots.

Where did you see their change of heart? I saw the article about the rejection on this Freerepublic and got very mad. Almost as mad as the city of Chicago prohibiting the advertising of the new Nativity film because it was "too religious and might offfend some nonbelievers."
I didnt' see TFT's about-face. I hope so. Let me know if it's so.
Did the Toys For Tots people end up taking the dolls? I only remember reading that they rejected them. Could you show me something? I would love to see this.
Found this at MSNBC.

Honors to Him and all of his Battle Buddies that helped start and continue to carry on this fine effort.
Don't know, why don't you stop by and ask? The Marines have the Toys for Tots trademarked and are quite protective of it.
Thanks for the idea.
