Brian Mathews called his mother from the plane Thanksgiving morning, gleefully reporting that Southwest Airlines had let him board first in San Diego and thanked the uniformed Marine over the intercom for his service.

On Thanksgiving night, he had a second date with a woman he had been text-messaging from his post at Camp Pendleton, Calif. After a traditional dinner at his parents' house, he was picked up shortly after 10 p.m. by Jennifer Bower, 24.
Ten minutes later, a Nissan Sentra driven by a 25-year-old Laurel man with a blood alcohol level that police say was four times the legal limit slammed into Ms. Bower's stopped Toyota Corolla at a red light on Route 175 at Route 108.

A spokesman for Howard County police said Eduardo Raul Morales-Soriano, who was not injured, had been charged with two counts of manslaughter while intoxicated and two counts of homicide by motor vehicle. He was being held yesterday at the Howard County Detention Center in lieu of $830,000 bail.
A Breathalyzer recorded the man's blood alcohol level at 0.32 percent, Acting Police Chief William J. McMahon told members of the Howard County Council yesterday. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

This particular article fails to mention Eduardo Raul Morales-Soriano's prior arrests. I looked him up on the Maryland Judiciary Case Search and found the following:

Driving/attempting to drive vehicle while impaired by alcohol. State declined to prosecute.
Driving/attempting to drive vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol or alcohol and drugs. State declined to prosecute.

Driving/attempting to drive vehicle while under the influence, per se.
Driving/attempting to drive vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
November 24, 2006:
Six various counts of manslaughter and homicide.
Somehow some on FR will say this Bush's fault and not the Maryland prosecutors.
So many decisions; Judges criticised but no one goes to the 'heart of the matter' to address; just who these Judges are in fact, representing.
And in situations such as this. ..they should be 'disbarred' or impeached from their Office.
The hyphenated name may mean he's a Mexican national.
Does it show whether or not he had a driver's license?
Killed by an illegal alien. God forbid you harm one little hair on the little criminal leeches, but they can come here and commit all manner of crimes with hardly a slap on the wrist.

From another article:
Court records show that Morales-Soriano has lived in Maryland for about a year, was born in Mexico and worked as a landscaper. Howard County police and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials began investigating his immigration status yesterday.
"We were contacted by the police and we've started an investigation into his status," said James Dinkins, acting special agent in charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Baltimore office.
Morales-Soriano turned in his North Carolina driver's license and received a Maryland license, according to Kirwan.
"He provided a valid out-of-state license and proof of residency," said Young, the MVA spokesman.

Ironically, in the NM crash the driver was Anglo and all who died were a Hispanic family who were very active in the community and in school affairs. 3,000 people attended the Rosary the night before the funeral.
What a sad, tragic, preventable loss of two young lives. Morales-Soriano should have been imprisoned after the second DUI. I can only hope some DA and judge have to answer to the public.
I'm at a loss for words.
Two wonderful bright young people snuffed out by a chronically drunk driver.
If this SOB was an illegal alien, all hell needs to break loose.
And isn't it amazing, these G-D drunks never get injured when they total their cars---the other person always dies.
I only ask because one of my employees was killed by a drunken turd world illegal african about a year ago.
Our elected representatives turn a blind eye.
Why?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I do know one thing he either has a good lawyer or is friendly with a States Attorney in that county. Nobody walks away from a record like that with a permit unless someone is doing his dirty work in the States Attorney's office.
Now that they've got him, hopefully for good this time, I suggest turning Eduardo over to some of the victim's fellow Marines; I'm sure they could come up with some creative and suitable punishments.
but,he is likely to be an illegal alien, why? because he is using a first and middle name and his father and mother's last names,so i am pretty sure he is an illegal
High time.
Now just who was in charge of the border when this person crossed it. So Bush and the prosecutors are at fault as well as that walking scarecrow that runs homeland whatever.
