CARACAS (AFP) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said that when he called US President George W. Bush a "devil" before the UN General Assembly, he was talking straight from the heart.
"The way I called him a devil was not something I had planned, it came from the heart, because for me, it's the truth," Chavez said at a news conference.
When he addressed the General Assembly in New York in September, Chavez said he could still smell the odor of sulfur left by the devil, a reference to Bush who had spoken the previous day.
"Somebody had to tell the devil that he's a devil," Chavez said on Thursday.
He said his words were a reaction to the speech by Bush, who, he claimed, "thinks he's the boss of the world and threatens the world."
Chavez stressed he just spoke his mind.
"I don't know why they were offended," he said.
Does this guy ever shut up? Hugo, we're not doing anything to you. Can it.

He won't shut up because he knows he has the radical leftist MSM on his side and that they will print anything he says, especially against Bush or any strong anti-communist U.S. politician.
People like Hugo talk like that precisely BECAUSE we are not doing anything to him, except offering him some completely undeserved hospitality. He WANTS us to do something to him, so he tries to "call us out", provoke us, verbally abuse us, and in doing so, remind his "constituency", which he is still trying to build and identify, that he is still around, "speaking truth to power". I feel Hugo's big bid for power on the world stage is going to end next week with the election in Venezuela, which we are all watching closely on FR.
Yeah, I just saw for the first and only time, a Joe Kennedy/Citgo/Chavez circle-jerk...and one has to see it to believe it. You'd think it would have shown up everywhere, but I only saw it once. Maybe Chavez was too tight with the ad budget. I heard advertising on TV in the US is more expensive than in Venezuela.
This is absolutely appalling - does anyone EVER hear President Bush calling leaders of other countries names and bashing them - like they all do to him. No, he's got too much class and is too dignified. It's seems to be constant - this bashing and name-calling against President Bush, and I'm awfully sick of it. Wish there was something I could do about it.
Per our Senators, no response yet. However, I know both these Senators and fully expect they will do what's possible to make Citgo fuels more difficult to market here - under the table - as I believe is presently the case.
