The film, directed by Catherine Hardwicke has less in common with Pier Paolo Pasolinis neorealistic landmark The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964), Martin Scorseses controversial The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) and Mel Gibsons gore-splattered The Passion of the Christ (2004) than with the blandly earnest Hollywood biblical epics of the 1950s and 60s.
Like The Ten Commandments? Oh yeah, that was a terrible flick.(sarc)
